Depends on the space you have in the closet.

Depends on how fancy your closet will be. I like a simple drop down but the ones in a drawer are certainly nice in a beautiful closet.

Also consider if you want to be ironing in a closet.

be careful about so much steam in your closet. might cause mold/mildew. (I use a lot of steam when I iron)

Thank you everyone. We have turned a bedroom 12x14 into the master closet so it is quite large. It is a mid century modern house so wnt it it look really good. Doing it in white and would like to hide it in a pullout drawer or pull down. I don't know how good the shelves ones are. Patricia do u know who makes the pull down? Are the pull out drawers ones sturdy and big enough for basic ironing of shirts etc? Any brands u recommend? Thank you. Kim

The sturdiest one is a pull down made by Sidelines. It is 38" and fits in a 5" opening in a closet system and when in position has a sturdy leg for support.

Ironaway makes the best ones that recess between studs or surface mounts. They have a variety of styles, many including electric hookup and iron storage, and are found in many laundry rooms. They come up to 46" I believe.

The pullout drawers come in two specific styles. One fits in a minimum 20" deep drawer and pulls straight out and flips over. The other fits in a 14" deep drawer and unfolds and swivels. These are made by Hafele, Revashelf, and others.

I have both types the pull down one in my closet and the pull out drawer in my laundry room. I prefer the pull down for ironing shirts. Also make sere you put it on a timer ( so you don't have to go back in the house to see if you turned iron off! ). I use mine several times a week would not give it up! Good luck and show us your closet when you get done.

With that much space and depending upon the layout, you may want to consider a thin cabinet in the walk-in closet to store a full size ironing board.
