Need help with landscaping project for a big gardening bed

Every year we put hundreds of dollars in this bed with annuals and perennials. I would just like something that is very eye catching as this is a beautiful feature in the front of our home. I need drought tolerant, and deer resistant though. Suggestions welcome please!

Boxwoods would look good. Not sure if the deer like to eat them though.

Ice plants! These are the green ground plants around the rocks and steps in the photo below. So many things I love about these plants.. They grow quickly and fill in new landscaping well... Love the hot sun and dry climate of Utah.. The deer leave them alone.. And they turn beautiful colors of reds and oranges in the fall.

Ice plants need sun or they do not thrive. Boxwood is not a deers food of choice also astilbe, ferns, bleeding heart and vinca are all things that would work.
