One of my favorite rooms to decorate. Since most are small it's not hard to splurge on beautiful finishes and details.

Ours is just small, practical and unfinished (I want a frame built around the appliances). Because it's pretty narrow, I had to resort to some underhanded methods to convince the builder to make that large niche so I can store detergents there.
What you can't see is the pull-out shelf in between the washing machine and the dryer; I can put the laundry basket there and fold the clothes straight out of the dryer.

Here's what one of our customers did with their laundry room. What do you think?

Very cool light fixture! It would be lovely in a pantry too!
Yes that is a great comment. Many have chosen it for their pantry. Thanks!

    Luciana,
Thanks for the tip on the pullout shelf. I've added it to my design for my new laundry room. It solved a huge problem and my contractor thought it was a nifty idea. Thank you.

@ Laurel- your laundry area looks finished compared to ours. Looks like you have more height to work with than we do, our footprints are similar, however. We took away a small area from one side of our laundry to improve our kitchen. When finished, we'll remove the shelving opposite to the W&D as it feels claustrophobic as presently configured; a rod to line dry clothes will replace it. Wish the room had window light but that's not feasible.

    @thebighouse169 - you're welcome!
I bought it on Amazon (in the UK); it is specially made for a stacked washer-dryer combo.

Here's one view of our laundry room. The opposite wall we have a long shelf with pictures, and hooks underneath the shelf for coats, jackets, and to air dry items.

The laundry room is small. The unique solution Joseph came up with was to custom design an undersink storage that would accommodate the plumbing and provide sufficient, orderly, storage in a very attractive way! The success is shown here. The softness of the baskets makes the cool sleek steel grey washer/dryer combo work just perfectly.

When we moved into our rancher 14 years ago, the laundry area was just an area in the garage with a washer, dryer and laundry sink. Over the years it became messy and junky and the hot water heater stuck out like a sore thumb. So, being full of Houzz envy, I set to work making the area just a little more pleasant to look at and work in. Hubby and I did all the work ourselves and saved a lot of money in the process. Here are before and after pictures...

I have a multi purpose laundry room. The dogs have a Dutch door to keep them in "their" room and a doggy door to the outside as well as doggy wash and grooming area. I also have a sewing corner where I can keep my sewing machine out. A bonus is a secret door to my master closet so I can pull things out of the dryer and hang them right up!

LOVE pet friendly rooms...Would love to see a mural on that wall adjacent to the washer, not necessarily in these colors, just picking up the vibe from the pattern of the rug....

The rug is a nice idea, such a quick and inexpensive way to add colour. I have a long narrow laundry, the picture submitted have helped me with ideas. Thank you everyone.

Here are the before and after of my laundry closet located in my kitchen. Designer tried to talk me I to removing the laundry chute, but there is no way I would give up that convenience in my two story home.

Wow! Love the laundry chute! And I don't blame you for not wanting to give it up. There are times I have to lug a heavy basket full of laundry to my laundry center - your chute eliminates that chore for you... lucky you! :-)

This was a keep it simple, keep it clean utility room redo The better half wanted platinum for the washer/dryer and we chose a very light peach for the walls. A wire shelf below the hanging cabinet proves very useful. We also changed out the light fixture to brighten the area.

Do you keep the laundry detergent in the safe? It's pricey enough!
I never thought I would say this but I LOVE our laundry room. I agonized over every decision and gave it as much thought as the rest of the house. We used marble floors and counter tops and I put a large piece of artwork in there too. Made it super pretty by adding a crystal chandelier, under counter cabinet lights, Swarovski knobs on the cabinets and even put the detergent and dryer sheets in pretty containers. It takes the drudgery out of doing laundry! :)

The safe is where we keep our millions....(and if you believe that story, I have some swamp land I'd like to sell ya!) :-)
Homeaholic...wow, wow, wow...now that is a nice laundry room. I feel myself turning green with envy.
Pepineagles, love the pocket doors and the pretty light!

What is the best lighting for a laundry room? Fluorescent is not great for being able to see stains/grubby. What colour/warmth gives the best results?
