My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

      Is this durable? Is it used as a cutting surface/butcher block? What is the maintenance like for a piece like this?

      HI

      This is a walnut top and is quite durable.

      We did have some distressing done to it originally so that in case it took a beating it would fit in. The client has three children and it has withheld abuse quite well.

      Is there some kind of finish to protect the walnut from water? My walnut island was coated with a product called Waterlox, which works beautifully, but after 8 years it needs to be refinished and the Waterlox procedure is quite involved. Any other suggestions?
