Paint Issue

I have Dining Room that has the off white wainscoting as shown. Directly adjacent is a Sun Room with what I guess would be conisdered wainscoting, as well. I wanted to paint it white, but I'm thinking that would be too much with the off white in the Dining Room. I'll probably paint the Dining Room in some shade of red and the Sun Room in a light shade of yellor. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to best approach this.

I'd paint both walls the same color as each other, red or yellow would work well. I'd paint the off white wainscotting white. Your room will have a much better flow.

I would paint both the wainscoting and the raised panels an off-white; that will keep the 2 rooms flowing together. (I tend to keep away from pure white: too stark. Find a nice off-white with a warm undertone that will complement both wall colors) I like your original plan of red in the DR and soft gold or yellow in the sunroom.

They're 25" (Width) X 22" (Height).

Keep the flow of the space by painting them both white...it will appear to choppy otherwise!

The wainscotting is at different heights and I think painting it the same color white might not look right. How about painting the whole wall in the sunroom antique white or soft yellow, including the wainscotting?

Another option would be to paint the pillars between the rooms antique white too, to minimize the height difference.

I totally agree with Stanton Designs- although the heights are different they will flow together just fine if painted the same white. Will help to connect them. The eye accepts level changes like that in a space as long as they relate.

Thanks to all for the comments. It seems like most think that going with white would be OK, so I'll give it a try. I like the idea of pulling the columns into the flow of the two sections, so I'll look for a white/off white for them.
