Love the colour on the drapery! I think a patterned rug with some of the pop colour is needed. The rug needs to be large enough to to slip under the sofa. Drop the art work at least a foot, seems a little high and a grouping of odd numbers work really well. One more of the same size.

Thanks chemayne, as I already mentioned in the paragraph I am aware the wall art is too high and too small...that's why I'm asking for suggestions. I'm not sure if I want to incorperate yellow/gold in the room. However I like the idea of the other rug perhaps with a different color. I'm not interested in adjusting the curtains, I'm satisfied with the way they are hung.

Once I brought that first rug to try with my gray sectional and it looked awful. The problem was different gray undertones.
I keep seeing that kind of rug and it does not work in many cases.

Ikea has a great rug that could work with your color scheme if you wanted to incorporate the teal/turquoise color you have going on. And like others say, I would choose one that is a size or two bigger (you want at least the front legs of all your seating to touch).

Does your wall have texture? I would not be afraid to paint either a light turquoise or else to keep a rhythm with your color scheme. We all love color but sometimes might not be sure what it would do to our walls...

I would play up the turquoise/blue of the sheer curtains and throw cushions. You might like the palette in one of my projects (photos below) - a modern Moroccan tea rooms. Yes, I do like that rug, I was looking at that earlier and was trying to post it but it wouldn't attach with the comment for some reason.

The walls are panelling (creamy/beige) so I'm unable to paint. That's why I wanted to add colour with wall art. I would love to be able to paint the walls.

I personally think that your room is so sleek so introducing a longer haired rug might make it look stuffy. I'm not sure if I'm expressing myself right but what I'm trying to say is that with your current items, I would stick to a lowe profile rug. :-)

Actually your room requires little change....I would suggest a bold color to add a pop to your room.....back of sofa wall........and purchase a larger rug....the small rug gives the illusion of a smaller room......colour same tone a sofa to ground the room especially if your are going to do a colour block on one wall....then add cushions in the same tones as the colour block.....in similar tones.....does not have to be matchy matchy.....this is a much cheaper way to decorate to get the look.....rug art is expensive......Also your pictures are two small or hung to high above your couch......hang three or do a grouping of five.....

Cow hide? I always liked the look of cow hide but sunce i never had one i could not imagine having no real rug. Once i brought the hide to try it had to stay, and we love it.

Have you considered custom graphic wallpaper? Since I see the black and white undertones to your decor, maybe something like the following graphic wallpaper would add the extra something to your walls, rather than just regular wall art.

I did think about using a black and white patterned fabric to cover a blank canvas at first... Perhaps I'll try that.

Patterned fabrics with a nice dark frame or wallpaper would work. Either one would add a rich texture to the overall decor. The above pattern was lifted off a pillow to create the wallpaper you see in the photo.
