Have you had any problems with the window behind the stove ?

I love the window behind the stove idea and want to do the same thing in my kitchen. People all have the same question....How do you keep the window clean ? I don't think it would be a problem at all. What are the Pro's and Con's of the window behind the stove top.

It's not hard to keep clean. Most messy cooking is done on the front burner, not the back burners. Since you don't generally have cabinets above a cooktop, it's nice to at least have a huge window. I don't think you can ever have too much natural light! If you have an ugly view, you can plant some pretty small trees to block the view. I see no downsides!

Different houses have different window manufacturers. This house was Jeldwen. Another house done the same way has Sierra Pacific. Another has Hurd. The brand absolutely does not matter.

I love this design and my builder is not on board with it… I live in Ohio and he feels the window will fog up when it is cold outside. Can you share you thoughts on this… Thanks

We do have some cold weather in Dallas and I have not had problems with the window fogging up. Think about this - if you are using high heat, it's generally on a front burner which is about 18" away from the window. If your windows are insulated with low-e glass, there should be no major heat/cold transfer at all. But if for some reason it did fog up while cooking on a very cold day, the fog would clear off as soon as you are done cooking.

Get the strongest venting system you can, and vent to outside. That will help with pulling heat away from the window, reducing fog on cool days.

I went ahead with putting a window behind my stove top and have not had any problems what so ever. It's GREAT. I recommend it. The window does NOT fog up or at least mine doesn't.

You can't put a usable cabinet above the stove. You might as well get light and a view.

Here is my window completed. ignore the fishtank. LOL I am in the process of moving it. I will also be getting a new counter top. I was think carerra marble.

I'm going to also put a window behind my cooktop for my kitchen remodel. I'm going to also have one behind the sink. You can't have too much natural light.

If you have space behind your cooktop you can put in a stove cover which flips up when you need to cook. It acts as a shield for splatters and also hides a messy cooktop when you get surprise visitors.
