    The slipperyness really depends on the finish ordered on the stone. Check with your supplier on what they recommend.

    We install dimensional bluestone (such as the photo above) on a regular basis and I'd certainly recommend it for the area around a pool. Bluestone is more durable than slate, and slate is significantly more slippery. The picture above is natural cleft bluestone. You can also get a thermal finish which is when a flame is put to the stone and gives it a consistent non-skid texture.
