My husband and I are arguing over whether or not 4ft between the back of the couch and the end of the breakfast bar counter is enough space. The attached was our favorite design until he started to worry about this (he is 6'2" and I am 5'5").

Our designer thinks it would be fine if the peninsula was on the outside wall instead of the inside wall, but he's worried about that distance as well (This also doesn't show the matching chair that would be to the right of the couch.) The colors, etc are not chosen - this is just a rough design to get the idea (that's the fridge to the right of the kitchen sink on the outside wall).

The reason the bar has to end there is because there is a hallway behind the interior kitchen wall and a step down from that hallway into the family room.

These designs aren't completely up-to-date. We are thinking we would get rid of the arch to the dining room and just have it open like on the family room side.

We really want to get started, so we'd really appreciate some feedback! Thank you!
