Deck Staining Dilema

I have clients who are asking me to stain a design on their approximately 12' X 12' outdoor deck.
It's about a year, to 2 years old. I'm imagining it's some sort of pressure treated pine (though not green). This (below) is a tag found on one of the end-grains.
The deck is showing signs of wear and tear, drying, discoloring, cracking and slight warping, are all starting to happen.
All of my decorative painting is limited to interior, and I don't have experience with exterior materials.
I have never seen a stained deck that wears or ages well.
Does anyone know of a trustworthy product that they feel confident in guaranteeing a customer good wear and color intensity?
As of now (and since construction) the deck is fully exposed to all weather conditions.
They are anticipating getting a retractable awning, so that it will have some protection, mainly from the sun.
The design (pictured below) is an elongated harlequin diamond, in black (or dark gray) with the natural wood.
Therefore I am looking for a black and a clear product to use, and any information to help this project look as good when it's finished, for as long as possible.
Thanks so much, for anyone who has any information, that will assist me.
I appreciate it!
