No, we pull that cabinet out to 27” which helps us do a lot of things: It creates a 3” space in the back, making it very comfortable for the plumber to get his gas line in without ever being concerned about a drawer hitting it. It also takes the pro range, which has an extremely hot burner, away from the wall and gives it some air space. Also, by pulling to 27”, it gives the kitchen some character.
These were custom-made cabinets that were made without any backing, so by simply removing a drawer you have complete access to the gas and wiring. If you’re using a stock cabinet, you can reinforce the back and cut a hole in it. If you’re retrofitting an existing kitchen you’ll probably need to cut down the drawer at the rear.
