Your dining room is lovely......If you want to add more interest, think about using window coverings, even if they are blinds that are open all of the time, they will dress up the windows.......

Remove pictures on sides of window. Hang stationary panels on either side of all windows. Choose full length pattern in Greek key or other pattern. Lower light fixture to 36" above table. Add wood or matchstick blinds to windows if needed for privacy or light control.

Have you tried turning the table the other way?

I think for this space I would vote for panels on each side of the window with inside mount roman shades in a natural fiber/texture. Would warm up the space.

The reason the room doesn't look complete is because the windows need to addressed as mentioned above. Once you get something on them, the room won't seem so bare.

I like all the plants. They add a nice touch.

I know I need window treatments but don't know about full length curtains vs roman shades. If I do curtains I lose the side walls to put any decorations on. What's kind of panels are you referring for the sides of the window. Here is a picture of my kitchen and how it overlooks the dining room. Sorry not the greatest pictures

Your walls abutting the windows are too small for anything. Leave them bare. Find a fabulous drapery. That will be all you need.

Groveraxle how do you do that. Are you a decorator? I love the curtains. Where did I find drapes like that- trellis curtain. Any ideas on the light. I don't like the light. Want more of a statement.

What kind of a statement do you want the light to make? I'll look through your ideabook and see if I can come up with something you like better.

I'd like to see something taller and more interesting for your table decor. I got the starfish and the horse fragment from Restoration Hardware because I seem to be out of imagination this morning. ;-) But I think I'd really like to see a sculpture that echoes the shape of the pendant here in some bright colors, yellow among them. (Maybe later I'll build you one.)

I think the window treatments and the light fixture is a great idea. Seeing the other areas of your house, everything is all pretty much the same color. In this area, you have leather and wood, then behind you is the kitchen which is also cold--wood, stone, metal...I think if you got some nice host chairs in a funky fabric along with a more colorful rug (maybe rather than doing a brightly colored light fixture) that would really help bring interest to this space. A centerpiece of some sort would also help. It's a much better idea to add the window treatments and ditch the small art pieces--as groveraxle commented.

I agree with Emily Newbold. I just built this house and it looks so cold. I am loving the curtains Groveraxle suggested. I am unhappy with how my house is turning out. I want color but seem to be afraid of it and always stay neutral. I am tired of it. I tried to take better pictures so you can see my dining, kitchen, and living room. My living room is the same BLAH.!!! I need color. I have concrete floors which are took dark. I amm hoping to do wood soon.
