Deciding between carpenter-built and company built kitchen cabinets

I am renovating a kitchen and we are going to use a mix of quarter sawn oak inset cabinets on lower cabinets, boxes will be painted white, and uppers will be white, with bead board in the back. I have heard that carpenter-built cabinets will be cheaper, but I am concerned about the durability of the finish compared to "company" built cabinets. I got a quote for Wood Mode cabinets at 45K (the starting point) for approximately 28 boxes and am looking for a path to pursue. Way too many choices out there! We are definitely looking for the higher quality cabinets - no laminate on the insides.
