25 year old "modern" kitchen redone as the modern kitchen we wanted -
Comments (10)Thank you all! Ed the hardware is from Richelieu, 224 mm item # BP527224195. They had a pretty nice matching handle for the fridge and freezer drawers, and they don't snag clothing. They are a brushed nickel finish. The only "old" thing we kept in the kitchen was the double oven. So we bought a microwave to match and chose brushed nickel hardware because fingerprints don't show. I preferred chrome for the faucets though. Overall it works....See MoreKosher Kitchen Old World Beliefs Meet Modern Style
Comments (3)KOSHER KITCHENS BASIC GUIDELINE AND REQUIREMENTS If the space and the budget allow, two distinct kitchens within one space is the most desirable design. This is due to the fact that a Kosher Kitchen requires stringent separation of meat and dairy items. Every kitchen design starts with a plan, which includes all of the key elements that the home owner desires. This kitchen has 2 Ovens, 2 Microwaves, split dishwasher drawers it keeps dairy and meat separate per religious beliefs....See Moremy inherited 1940`s home needs a facelift
Comments (11)Are the kitchen floors vinyl or parquet? They look like vinyl. But I really like parquet floors in the kitchen, and they match well with hardwood flooring in adjoining rooms. As well I think they are charming in an older home. http://www.houzz.com/Parquet-kitchen-floor I agree with all the other kitchen suggestions. But I'm not sure if anyone mentioned painting that range hood. There are metalic paints so it might be nice in stainless or copper... I also agree with getting rid of the terra cotta paints. I think you could go with ivory and white or gray, you can go light medium or dark. Grays and ivories go really well with brick. The one thing bothering me about the builtin shelves are the support rails/spindles on the right side. I am not sure if this your style, but I kind of like the look of birch branch shelf supports. http://designawards.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/shiro-shelf1.jpg Or something that might add a little more charm. If you go with gray in the livingroom, you might go with a very light gray in the kitchen so the cabinets pop. You can also go all one tone rather than two tone even with the chair rail, if you like. I couldn't find the example I wanted, but this picture shows how the molding and walls can be all the same color...See MoreReplace The Old Grill With A Modern Outdoor Kitchen
Comments (0)Replace The Old Grill With A Modern Outdoor Kitchen The days of using the classic stand alone grill are over; nowadays, many home owners are opting instead for an outdoor kitchen which makes it much more practical and fun to entertaining guests, while cooking. There are so many options to customize an outdoor kitchen, from grill to oven, from a mini refrigerator to a wine cooler, the list goes on and on; it all just depends on your specific needs and wants. The main aspects to keep in mind when designing your new outdoor kitchen are the functionality and location. It should be close enough to the main house to facilitate the movement of utensils, dishes and food from the house to your outdoor kitchen while at the same time close enough to all the action in the backyard/pool for the cook to be part of the rest of the party. It is also important to keep in mind that all material used for this area should weather resistant (such as stones and stainless steel). And finally, this outdoor space should flow with the rest of the backyard, and complement the design of the house. The photos below are of one of our recent projects. The outdoor kitchen was designed perfectly, as there is plenty of counter space for the cook to do the preparations as well as cook while able to interact with guests sitting at the bar area as well as be part of all the action at the pool....See MoreUser
