Difference lighting makes on paint color!

These pictures are the same color paint but I removed the glass shades from the lights in the room (ceiling fan lights and 1 semi flush light fixture). I can't believe the difference! The bottom picture is without the light covers. So now I am going to change the light covers or just get a new ceiling fan/light fixture all together. The color on the wall is Waynesboro Taupe by BM. I am thinking I want to paint the ceiling a color rather than white. Any suggestions on a color?

    I couldn't resist playing in your space and somehow it turned into the African room. Zebra rug, leopard lamp, elephant art. It's going to be beautiful, whatever you do. (Just don't forget the art.)

      thank you for posting this.... im going to bump it! what color where the glass shades? I would say in most cases you can replace standard fan glass. but for the sake of it I would like to see the old glass in a photo!

      The shades are a brownish color. I am attaching a picture of the shades from the ceiling fan sitting on my table.
      I wanted to replace the ceiling fan and semi flush light anyway so this is just more reason to do it. When I redecorate the room I want to use pewter/brushed nickel for the curtain rods and I bought a large mirror with a pewter frame.

      Any suggestions on a ceiling color to try?

      That picture shows the semi flush light fixture and not the ceiling fan. Attached is a picture of where the ceiling fan is. :)

      Yes, we use the fan for most of the year. I would love a chandelier there and no fan but we use the fan.
      The molding is not complete - we are working on it now as part of the remodeling of this room. I wish we had thought of painting the ceiling before we started the molding but we didn't.

      i would actually change out the whole fan to satin nickle... the lighter fan wont be so "hi im a fan" and will also go better with your color sceme as apposed to bronze. if you do just want to change the glass, measure the opening on the attachment side. looks to me like what is called, neckless fan glass. with a ...inch opening.

      Do you think I need to find a fan with nickel blades too and not just the body of the fan in nickel? Most fans are brushed nickel and not satin...same thing?

      Hard to see how modern or not your room is, but I'd skip the light kit on the fan altogether and just go with bedside lamps. And thanks for posting this also. I've told people to change their bulbs, but I never thought to tell them to change their lamp shades!

      For the ceiling, you could use the same color as the walls cut 50% or 75% with white.

      I thought about a fan with no light but I think the room needs more light than just lamps on that side of the room.
      I was referring to the window shades when I said those need to be replaced also.

      Lol!! You even finished the molding for me!

      I like a rug in the room (never had one) and I do need art for that wall, new lamps and new window shades.
