My suggestion would be why you should never buy a gas or electric range with AquaLift Technology.

I concur with all the comments above . Aqualift is truly false advertising. Just the principle of it , I should have researched before buying my Maytag oven. Very disappointed in spending $$ I did only to find I will have to clean by hand.

Just thought I would add a note on alternatives- in particular smooth cooktop ranges. We had GE profile ceramic cooktop range and it stained within the first 6 weeks. I always made sure any messes were totally cleaned up before cooking on it to avoid anything getting burned into the ceramic top. It made no difference and the cooktop stained just from splatter oil while cooking and the occasional boil over of mostly water.

I researched all the different brands of cooktops and saw similar complaints with other brands- although some did not have quite so many complaints. We decided to go with Frigidaire with induction cooktop. We bought the cheapest induction range. It does have convection, roast, and air-fry settings. It is amazing how the top no longer stains and looks like new two years later. It also has self-cleaning, but I only used it twice because I am always scared an oven might go out on me due to the extended high heat. The range has a satisfaction rate over 90% from customer comments on Home Depot. TBH, it is the best appliance we have ever had. I found a really low price on the internet and got it price matched locally.

Anyway, I hope everyone here finds some sort of resolution. I found this post when I was researching ranges before we bought the induction range. It is really helpful of everyone to post comments here so others know what to avoid. So, I thought I would share our experience.

I am shocked that they are still selling Aqualift ranges! I have been searching for a new slide in range for a condo. I love induction! But not if the oven has to be cleaned by hand and you can't use a strong cleaner! It is hard enough with al of the shortages on appliances now. Does anyone have a suggestion on a brand that is not using steam to clean their ovens? I have a GE Profile wall oven that cleans both ways. I have tried the steam twice. It does not work! I know i do not want one that is only steam! Help!

The Frigidaire slide-in induction FGIH3047VF has true self clean in addition to steam clean. The Cafe (GE) double oven slide in induction has self clean also. But Ge/Cafe has significant supply issues.

I would love to buy the GE double oven but I can’t find it available either. The Frigidaire has a lot of bad reviews but it has a lot of good ones. Who do you believe? There were actually pictures of water in pans on an induction burner. The center of the pan, the water was boiling. It was not all boiling.

@boba1 Does that GE different kinds of elements? One I saw had induction, radiant and a regular electric one. Why would you need 5 different type of elements?

Elaine, it's my understanding the GE Cafe has 4 induction elements and the 5th little one is a keep warm element common with many of the flat surface radiant ranges. That surprised me because that's very unique to induction ranges.

@boba1 I do not remember which one I was reading but it was a review on the range that asked why it needed different types of elements. The response was in case one didn't work. It was probably a facetious comment. I thought it was strange! I couldn't imagine a company doing that. I think I need a spreadsheet to research ranges now!

We bought a slide-in Whirlpool range with this aqualift cleaning cycle which is not a cleaning cycle at all i spoke to a rep at ABT and she said all that this cycle does is soften the stains or whatever but unless you have the model that comes with an added self-cleaning cycle you have to clean this oven yourself. She suggested baking soda and vinegar, make a paste and wipe it on making sure to keep it moist and scrub to get the dirt off sides and back wall. terrible that Whirlpool sells this as a self cleaning oven when it really is not! is this not false advertisement? paying over $1500 for a range that doesn’t clean is just wrong!

Ok, just chiming in here. I have comments upthread.

Been out of town for a while. Bought the can of Easy Off oven cleaner shown upthread before I left intending to use it when I returned. Spouse used it while I was gone. He said it removed the very top layer of oven crud. He had to use a lot of muscle to get that top layer off. Seems more uses will be required. How the oven interior will hold up is unknown over time however.

Also want to mention that I'm still bitter Whirlpool advertises this range as a self-cleaning oven. Yes, there are vastly more important things in the world to be upset about, but I'd appreciate it if Whirlpool would stop marketing this product as a self-cleaning oven. It's not. So many of us have been duped by Whirlpool and according the this thread, our displeased group continues to grow...Not a good way to build brand confidence or loyalty. My first and most important new range search feature was "Self Cleaning Oven". Everything else a range could offer was secondary to me.

After much research, I decided to go with the Bosch Induction Benchmark. Of course, I do have to wait until September to have it delivered. I made sure it had a regular self cleaning oven! Thanks, boba1

I used oxyclean in my bathtub, towel on bottom with very hot water to clean racks left overnight Racks came out sparkling clean with just wiping with cloth Wish the bottom of the oven was that easy!

I am writing a complaint about my Whirlpool Aqualift oven. I purchased this oven in March 2022 and had it installed in April or May. I redid my whole kitchen. At the time I purchased this item I thought it was a dual cleaning system. I don't know what made me think that but I did. I figured that the steam clean process would be a safer and simpler way to clean the oven. I used the clean cycle and it did nothing. I ran it again and it still did nothing. Now I am stuck with this horrible oven that I have to deep clean on my hands and knees and hope it comes clean. My oven also has an air fryer in it that is really no big deal. Manufacturers are putting all kinds of new fangled nonsense in their products that make people believe it's better, It's not, Oh by the way I am a 72 year old who needs a little simplicity in my life. Not to work harder. Hope this helps.

I was told by a rep at ABT where we purchased this oven that some models do have a dual system and the aqualift helps with that process. Ours does not have a dual system so as everyone else who has purchased this oven, I have to get on my hands and knees and clean. The rep told me to make a paste of vinegar and baking soda after running through a clean cycle. Leave the paste on for a little bit and then wipe clean. Haven't tried it yet but hoping it works although it infuriates me that a self cleaning oven doesn't clean itself!

That aqualift does not work at all .whirlpool should be ashamed of this product. no more of that brand for me.

I to had a whirpool aqua garbage self clean oven. I read, "it may take several trys" screw that, i loved the stove put the look of the inside of the oven ticked me. Finally had my fill and tossed my 2yr old $2000 range and bought an LG self clean...YES THE REAL SELF CLEAN. The tempurater is even all across the inside of the oven. Stove works great etc. AQUA LIFT..JAM IT!!! dont buy it!!

Totally disappointed! Feel like I was sold a pile of lies. The Aqualift is cleaning function is B.S. and Whirlpool has known it for years. Wish I had known there was a class action lawsuit-shame on me. Will be posting on every social media website, communicating to all contacts. Totally worthless!

I'm with you - this is insane - I was forced into this purchase during covid when there were no options available - whoever invented "Aqualift" must love filth - because my oven, in one year, is filthy AND I only love in my house part time - shame on you whirlpool!!!!

I just finished calibrating our two KA ovens. The one with Acqua Lift was off by about 30 degrees F, Our wall oven was off by even more (it is a true self cleaning model). We had a Christmas Party last week, and several neighbors were talking about all the issues they have had with KA appliances. Such a shame.

That's terrible armjim. I'm not surprised by the oven temps being off like you noted. Mine is a grab bag of what temp shall I pretend to be today. Shame on Whirlpool/Kitchenaid. Sorry to report my Whirlpool Aqualift oven is still consistantly not consistant with oven temps. All over the place.

SEA SEA, so the wall oven seems to be better-Roger was happy with the results for the baking he did in it today. The range oven with the Acqua Lift he believes is still off. He will be using it on Christmas Day to roast a prime rib for a dozen people and wants to make certain it is going to roast properly. After Christmas I may have to get a technician out to check it. Oh well...Merrry Christmas to you and the family!

At least one of the ovens is doing well now. I'm glad for that. Best of luck with the roast. We are doing the same, so good luck to us too. I find most of the time, I have to bake and roast significantly longer that it should take. Made cookies yesterday. But it was a long time for each batch and a different amount of time for each batch. Timers mean nothing here since we got this oven....Merry Christmas to you and your family armjim!

Bought a Whirlpool stove this past Feb. Used the oven for the first time in the middle of July. I had a mishap with a pie and had to clean the oven. WHAT A JOKE! This Aqualift does NOTHING. I called to complain. Two men, on two separates occasion, came out and did nothing. They never even turned the Aqualift on. I called Weirs appliance, where I bought the stove, and I told them to have an employee come to my home and have them try to clean it. Of course, they refused. I was basically told, "stuff luck". I will NEVER, EVER, buy Whirlpool again. How could they cheat customers like this. I was told I'm not scrubbing hard enough. I bought a self-cleaning oven, not a relic from 1954. Kevin W. Herrick

I built a new home and filled it with all whirlpool appliances. i am disgusted with the whirlpool aqualift self cleaning range sold to me at home depot as a ” self-cleaning ” range. now i have pay someone to clean it as i have a spinal cord injury and cannot do it. i had the whirlpool repair man come over after the first time i tried the self cleaning oven thinking that it must be malfunctioning.

No…i had to use ” ELBOW GREASE” was the instruction.

The thing is a nightmarebc you cant even use oven cleaner bc it will take off the finish and make matters worse.

I bought mine ten years ago, and after posting a review, was contacted for a class action suit.

Nothing came of that.

I still have the stove -- love, love, love the induction cooktop. Hate, hate, hate --despise! -- the Aqualift Clean it YOURSELF oven.

I just bough a new home and it came with this useless range. No mater how I try to "self-clean " it does not work. There is no heat and 40 mins later it is still dirty. AQUA lift is a joke. It does not work. I have to get on my hands and knees to clean the sides, top and back of my oven. Whoever thought this was a good idea is crazy. AND whirlpool should do something to refund money or replace with an actual self-cleaning oven> I feel like I am living in th 1960s.

tmg we have the same calibration issues with both of our KitchenAid ovens-one is part of the slide-in range with the useless Aqualift. The other is a wall oven (with actual self-cleaning capability). I calibrated them both per the manuals and the internet, but they don't quite reach the set temperature. These appliances under Whirlpool ownership are very very disappointing. If we make the decision to remain in this area for the next number of years, I can see us switching to European brands, though I have read more than a few complaints about Miele having calibration issues.

I bought my Kitchen Aid stove 2022 last year. This is the first time I cleand this oven and it did not do anything. Im I’m highly pist off. I want to be in the lawsuit.

From what I heard, the lawsuit never materialized. Sad because so many of us were scammed.

My Aqua Lift oven is due for a cleaning and while it is not bad this system isn't going to even get close to cleaning any of it. Has anyone found any product out there that will clean without ruining the finish? I have used the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for some spots but I cannot imagine having to use that throughtout the whole oven. How can Whirlpool just do nothing when they have to know this Aqualift system is a total joke and a scam. I thought Whirlpool was a reputable company??? Would love to hear what everyone is using to clean their "self cleaning" ovens. Thank you.

You can buy oven cleaner for self cleaning ovens and it works fine other than killing your knees and back scrubbing our fake self cleaning ovens.

I bought a Kitchenaid Aqualift stove April of 2023. I've tried everything that has been recommended to clean the walls of the oven to no avail. I'm 75 next month (Oct. 2024)and scrubbing an oven like I did in 1970 is not something I look forward to. I can't afford to buy another stove as I'm on a fixed income and have spent all I can to upgrade my condo. Is there another class action suit in the works?

Our aqualift oven stopped working about a month ago. Our KA DW is also in need of servicing. I will never purchase any appliances made by the Whirlpool corporation ever again. Of the 6 KA appliances we had the builder install in our home back in 2017 (the 7th is our KA refrigerator that came from Best Buy), 5 of them have failed or needed servicing. Not good odds at all. The acqualift only compounds it.
