Ideas for Fireplace Wall With TV ?

Fireplace is centered (right under the ridge) on one side of a 40' great room containing kitchen, dining, living room (opposite end is the kitchen range w/ hood).
Ceilings are 9' at fireplace, but vaulted to 12-14 in center of room.
The wall with the fireplace is on is 12' long and anticipate the fireplace section to be about 5-6 ft.
Like the idea of a hearth and stone mantle, but afraid that tv would be too high. Planning on getting a 65-70" tv since room is big enough and seating would be about 10' away.
Like the idea of clean look, but not too modern, house style is prob considered transitional (with traditional flair.. if that makes sense). so prefer more traditional gas insert rather than a linear one
Considered built-in's on either side of FP, but since is one big open room, wanted to limit clutter and can use the space for closets on other side of wall.

Any other ideas to keep simple, yet traditional and lower the tv (if possible)? Any other considered wall treatments (I.e. bump out the 6' fireplace wall a few inches, crown, stone, etc...)?

Yes actually some of the linear fireplaces require a niche for the tv and even a specific depth so be sure to double check! Good luck!

Honestly, I'd put the fireplace off-center on the wall to leave room for a nice big TV console on one side. Otherwise, I like the more modern treatment and maybe skip a mantel entirely to let you get everything at the right height, and maybe at an angle to help with neck strain.

I think I just fell in love with this one, that combines "hearth" and "console" in one inverse mantel of loveliness. But it may not be your style.

Actually, the mantel height and tv height depend entirely on the fireplace that you use. Please consult your fireplace professional first and have them look at the manual for your fireplace. This is first a heat/safety issue and second a design/beauty issue!!

@acm - thank you for all the great ideas. I'm going with a more clean/modern look.... initially was worried that by doing so would forego the warmth that a nice FP brings, but realized that with the right stone and hearth it strikes a right balance. will post final result.

@Jeanne - agree, thanks for the advice. FP supplier advises 20" clearance on to from the box... and we might additionally recess the TV in a nieche to further help the cause (esp since doing without the mantle). We were able to keep the TV at a reasonable height given that we opted for a linear FP.

Yes to what Jeanne Sallee said!
I made the mistake of choosing a fireplace, extra long modern, wanted the clean modern look I see in all the photos, no mantel, TV above. BUT I come to find out this is just in photos and mostly for staging. In fact, the space needed between the fireplace and TV above is often quite larger than what you see in photos.
We would have needed a mantel, which we did not want, or recessed the TV, and even then it was just too high.
Don't believe all the pics you see of clean modern fireplaces with TV's above! There is more to it, check the specs carefully.
In the end it worked out fine for me, we didn't put the TV over the fireplace and re thought the room and made a TV nook somewhere else. However I still get mad when I see pics that have the look I wanted and I just know the TV can't possibly be that close to the fireplace!
