Paint suggestion

Over the past couple of weeks I have stenciled my dining room wall and refinished the table. The table is oak. The base is painted cream and the top is a weathered oak finish. I am really happy with the table, but it doesn't photograph very well. The wall opposite of the stencil has a large window.

I am considering painting the bank of cupboards across the back wall with Annie Sloan French Linen (grayish). This will be a bit of a job though and I'm afraid to pick the wrong color. The oak trim is all staying. Any suggestions?

Annie Sloan did work well. I painted with two coats of French Linen, let dry, and rubbed with a dark stain. I then coated with a satin poly. I am considering doing the kitchen, but haven't worked up the stamina yet.

Hi. I admire your room, partly because I messed up the math etc. of the only large stencil project I undertook. Can you match the stencil wall to Annie's?
Don't know if your curtains have color, but you might introduce something brighter than French Linen.. See I'm not totally into neutrals like many; I crave some color. :)
do these kind of colors 'go with' your new tabletop?

Yes paint them...they could use a little update ,don't be scared Annie Sloan is easy and very forgiving,I painted my whole kitchen with 23 cabinets in a day with Annie Sloan .You can also mix colors

Just time for a thought - view seen most often is it the buffet, or the windows?
Maybe the place for softening fabric in a pleasing color there all along the window wall?? and beautiful new unit in your linen...yes.

Thank you for the suggestions. The cabinets definitely get seen. They take up the whole back wall and the dining room is open to the living room.

Absolutely good idea ! Pick a darker WARM GREY like your walls only darker ! And put all your mirrors at the same height ! Evenly spaced ! Not more than 6 inches above your cabinet ! Great job stencilling !

Yes, Minwax water based polycrylic.

It seems that the last coat allows good damp wipe, etc??

... and for kitchen cabinets they say minwax is ok? I'm storing up info....

The poly leaves a very hard finish that can be wiped easily. I don't know about using in kitchens. I don't know why not.

I don't think BrandiNH is offering to help haha but we'd love to see the before and after of your kitchen. You might've dragged your console to the garage, but the kitchen --- you have to stop everything I'd guess!!!! What ambition!!!

Are you going to do the mirrors to match the buffet? Might look better, then you won't have three different colors of wood. And The center mirror bumped up detracts from the great light fixture. (I'm the second person to notice that center mirror is a distraction)
