We put a fireplace in the master bath. It is great on cold mornings.

Mine wasn't a "quick" fix, but It was done on a major budget. 2 friends are tiler & plumber. Wall & floor gut. Pipes in floor for heat too. Total transformation was under 5k

Using a neutral black & white, I can change my room easily with paint & linens.

We added new cabinets, updated the hardware, changed the countertops to granite, painted the room, updated all the lighting, changed the mirror to a framed mirror from flat, replaced the bathtub and added new tile, added a rain shower fixture. Added glass block at one in to bring in more light...created an indentation in the shower surround to hold shampoo, etc. I wanted to add travertine floors in the Versailles pattern but blew the budget on the rest

We upgraded our ensuite last year. It cost us $3500 & was worth every dollar. New glass topped vanity, tiling, toilet, mirror, frameless glass shower with walk in floor. Shower lined with glass splashbacks, one white wall & one digitally printed glass. I love the digital print, it makes me feel happy when I shower. Having 2 sons who are Glaziers & 1 who is a Plumber does have an upside after all ! :)

It would depend on my budget! For a cost effective quick-fix, I would ensure the walls were painted with white or neutral colours to give a bright clean effect and replace window blinds/towels/accessories. For a mid-budget renovate, I would replace coloured sanitary ware with white and add new taps (faucets for those of you in the US!).
For my ultimate bathroom makeover, I would re-tile with a mixture of split limestone and travertine, add a huge spa-design walk-in shower with maxi ceiling-flush head and handheld attachment, mood lighting, his'n'hers basins with storage drawers below and well-lit mirrors over, huge spa bath in alcove, underfloor heating, music system and HD screen. Oh, and his'n'hers towel warmers.

install some nicely spaced candel holders on the wall around the bath to home candles of your choice. versatile in that you can change colour and scents of candles and match bath / hand towels and other accessories eg a flower in a vase, pump soap, bath scrubs or flannels.

Using a piece of furniture in the bath makes it look more personal and can really upgrade a bathroom design.

It's too goofy and you would get sick of it in no time, plus how you do really clean this glown room.

Your examples are horrible!!! In my opinion the average person wouldn't want any of those things. I want an easy cleaned, non-cluttered, useable bathroom. The things we want to change in our master bath are a larger sink with faucet that is high enough to wash our hair in the sink. We are also going to strip the wallpaper and move the whirlpool soaker tub into the bathroom from the bedroom and put the shower above it. We are also going to take out the marble floor tiles (shiny and COLD--would like bamboo or cork for the floor. I would also like a little more light as there is no window and the lighting is dark. We are also going to move the door over--right now it is a straight shot from the window in the bedroom through the door to the toilet--not a great combination if you forget to close the door to use the toilet and have the light on--and someone walks by

I've got a couple of favorites on your list - an antique mirrored cabinet in lieu of a medicine cabinet and a skirted sink. I love the idea of a skirt on a vintage sink - my grandmother made mine for me after I found instructions in a book - it was shirred (is that the word?) and looked cute. My oak cabinet in my half bath, pictured below in a fuzzy phone photo, came from my great-grandmother and was in our half bath in my childhood home and now's in mine.

I put some honeycomb wallpaper to match the original honeycomb tile floor (from 1927) and replaced the toilet with an toilet/sink combo - great water conservation, and topic conversation :-)

Most of the 'options' offered are things that others write here to Houzz to help them BANISH from their bathrooms.

Some don't seem to take into account that a bathroom is a WET and damp and steamy place and tends to be hard on stuff, and likes to grow mold and mildew.

I'd suggest paint and shower curtain swapout.

Emmadreaming2's toilet sink is conversation but I'd hate to be leaning over the toilet to try to wash my hands. My better half would have dirty water streaks from the window all the way forward of the toilet, and after one or two uses, make me take it out.

I have dark wood panels in bathroom also under floor heating, maybe a new vanitey would enhance the room.

I will be removing the large mirror over the sink to be replaced with an antique framed smaller mirror. Also removing the wallpaper . Would love a claw foot tub but don't know if it will fit.

Run a tile or painted glass slab behind (& a bit wider than) the toilet. Boys miss....

4 feet of white on bottom half of walls with a bit of white trim on top or use wainscoting.

My bathroom is in the middle of a reno. It's usable but UGLY and they're telling us it's going to be another month before it's a room I can enter with my eyes open (tile and fixture delays, supposedly)! I am so tempted to go in there and paint everything that will take paint, I know that would perk things up considerably!

sunnieday I agree with you. My DH took out the bathtub and is in the process of putting in a new one. He works all day, his DM is in the hospital and I can't say anything cuz that would be sooo soooo wrong. Wish I could do something with it myself.

My master bathroom is sunny!! It has a high ceiling and a sky light. I would like to replace the tile on floor & around the tub... it is a mint green, NOT BAD. But, am wanting white tile so I can play with and love new accessories & colorful towels :)

Re-decorating my powder room with new fixture from Houzz website/ Bosconi cabinet- which is beautiful! I will post photos when done!

I would add a rug to cover most of the floor.

Oh and also, and I would add a chandelier above the tub.

I'm pretty obsessed with using the antique as a medicine cabinet. Adds some character, texture, and (if you want) color. :)

I would go with a medicine cabinet as I need one, not necessarily antique though. I do love the colourful basket and red tissue container idea though!

Disaster/ purchased a Bosconi bathroom cabinet- plumbing inaccessible through back of cabinet- contractor cannot attach it~ BACKSPLASH NOT WIDE ENOUGH TO GET TO WALL~ CONTRACTOR HAS TO FUDGE IT WITH WOOD TO MAKE IT GO TO WALL. ! BACKSPLASH IS SCRATCHED AND SO IS COUNTERTOP. PLUMBER HAD TO CUT BACK OF CABINET TO ALLOW FOR PLUMBING TO GO INTO CABINET!1 I CANNOT RETURN IT BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN MODIFIED- BUT WE COULD NOT KNOW THIS UNTIL WE TRIED TO INSTALL IT~ I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER THING FROM THIS WEBSITE

I love converting unusual pieces of furniture into vanities (antiques, mid century modern or even a new piece that catches your eye) then add a nice eye catching mirror. You can have marble, stone or quartz remnants cut to fit for a pretty inexpensive counter and tile is definitely a budget friendly option. Whatever you choose to do, with a little imagination and planning you can create an amazing space :)
