This journsl issue shows butterflies that enjoy passifloras. The above issue was of passion fruits… The second issue above had articles on amazing beautiful varieties… the Russian Botanical Passiflora Gardens, growing Passifloras in the Netherlands & a cook book for passion fruit recipes… had to share some photos…

Reply to: Diane, I love your Eglantyne photos! They remind me a little of my Wedgewood. My Eglantyne did not like it here lol. Berrypie, Love your double sunflower. I grew some similar last year. They are my favorite. Do you follow sun_flower_steve on instagram? He is a sunflower hybridizer and has some really amazing colors of double sunflowers that he is working on! Kristine, your Julia Child looks so bright & cheerful!

Reply to: the fragrance from DD is even more impressive than its ever changing coloration ... it was my absolute fave.. back in the day ... an truth to this supposition??? .... i always speculated.. this was pre WWW.. that the as the cream bud opened ... humidity caused it to change to the red colors.. and then fade away ... pretty exciting transition considering the very short life span of an individual flower ... ken

Reply to: I'm new to the whole rose growing situation, but I'm using Rose-tone as a "base" fertilizer. I like the flexibility it offers by being organic with a bit of poultry manure, alfalfa, and other nutrients providing a modest 4-3-2 mixture that lasts over time. I claim it to be a base fertilizer because I can slightly up the nitrogen and phosporus during growing season by adding a little bit of diluted miracle gro rose fertilizer in conjunction with the rose tone. I can also add in some more potassium come winter hardening off period. I suppose you could think of many variations to add on such as alfalfa and coffee grounds, etc. I don't have any experience with solely pure other fertilizers, so I can't really make any claims for them. I'm more of a use a little of a lot type of gardener. I'm pretty satisfied so far........but by all means.......if somebody has something that works even better, I think everybody is all ears!

Reply to: Kitty, it doesn't get that TALL, but if allowed to, it will arch out to make a plant that's in the neighborhood of 4-ft. across. I've never counted the petals. Sorry. But I suspect 40 may be pretty close to correct. If deadheaded, I find it to be continuous-blooming, in my Coastal SoCal location. And it has excellent disease-resistance for me. We have 3 of it, in differing locations, and all are excellent. This image is from this morning, 6-9-22

Reply to: Kristine LeGault, sounds like your having a busy day... But the donut part made me hungry...lol Yes lots of work berrypiez6b... Hope your bush totally recovers! Kitty6aNY, they are now basking in the good stuff...lol I also have Begonias out back in various areas in the ground but they are not growing well either... Remember I'm in a new house so have no idea about the soil... Everything else is growing decent..just not these in ground begonias...lol.. So not growing begonias in the ground anymore here...lol...Maybe to much sun...??? Who knows!
