Hi, Friends, Today was a fabulous 72 degrees in upstate NY and I walked Anastasia at the lake park near my home. I plan to start walking her at the lake park a few days a week-good exercise now in the better weather. (It will be 40-50 F this month maybe, but today was esp warm.) i walked next to my burlap bagged roses in my yard and it was so warm I took off the burlap bags and surprise all the stems on my new fall roses had pretty healthy green leaves and all green stems now in spring . I didn’t use leaves to keep them warm in the burlap bags. I just mounded in mulch and put burlap bags on them. I am so excited about those green caned roses--not a bit of winter loss! My other roses are ok and need pruned w/some came ’loss. Next year I burlap more roses-it works amazingly well!!!!!! I am just jumping for joy-the green canned roses are so pretty and healthy on my new roses: Honeymoon, Kiss of Desire, Fragrant Masterpiece, Flamenco Rosita, Graham Thomas, Hyde Hall, Red Eden, Kiss Me Kate, French Lace and Double Delight, to name a few. . Wow! Abraham Darby didn’t have a burlap bag but it was buried in icy snow a week ago and now is all green And pretty happy. Funny how snow can bury them , keep them insulated, and they are green and happy now! Happy Gardening this spring!

Kitty, I’ve enjoyed your beautiful pictures. Kristine, I’m enjoying the turkey pictures too. We‘ve had warm weather recently, and four days of very high winds. The winds have calmed, temperatures are a little cooler with light rain today, and more in the forecast. I finally got my first COVID shot on Tuesday, so relieved. I can tell that my roses are in much worse shape than I first thought. Not really sure how many survived. I’ve ordered quite a few, so at least I’ll have some to replace them. I think the Kordes ones are okay, at least I hope so!

Diane, we had frigid temperatures for two weeks straight in February. We had several below zero temperatures during that time period. The coldest was minus 13, with a high of five degrees the next day. It was a mild winter here before that!. I think they were probably breaking dormancy before then, because generally they do. Shots usually aren’t a huge deal for me either, and my first Covid shot didn’t phase me. Hopefully the second won’t either.

Kitty, those are some beautiful choices.Your front yard will be the prettiest on the block. Heirloom has Madame Anisette but they are sold out right now. I was looking for that one too. I just received one of my orders for 2021 - BUT its not a rose..or maybe she is :) Our new Livestock Guardian for the farm ♡ She is currently hogging my bed lol.

Cydney, owner, called And helped me order them: E. Veyrat Hermanos (Sunset) and Davis Rose above in my posting ... and I ordered.... Benny Lopez, A Damask Hybrid Perpetual below... it is said to bloom perpetually and lots of blooms!!!
