I've been on the hunt for soapstone and this is what i've found in 2022. This is MY experience, ymmv. My suggestion is to call in advance to see what the selection is like before making the trip.
Bedrosians--Has a couple varieties. Not a large selection.
All natural stone--Has a couple varieties. Not a large selection though, so what you see is likely what you'd get at any of their Bay Area locations.
Apex--No soapstone in San Jose.
M. Teixeira in SF--specialize in soapstone, but not much available to choose from right now, and asking a high price per slab, which I believe is Covid related.
DaVinci--two varieties. the one I want isn't "available" (they seem to prioritize holds for designers"
IRG brisbane--a few varieties and a lot on hand.
Tez--no soapstone in San Jose.
Don't make the mistake I did and drive up to the Sierra Soapstone in Hayward. I made the drive from SJ to find that they're fabricators and there's no showroom for you to really pick and choose from.
