More beams on the ceiling that I was anticipating, although the absence of horizontal beams makes the ceiling appear higher and avoids interference with cabinetry. - but reduces opportunities for mounting lights.

This is a beam design that I have not considered. It makes the ceiling appear higher and removes clutter near the cabinet tops, but also reduces light placement options on the beams.
