Board & Batten instead of horizontal siding on top of addition? More expensive? Would it look awkward with fence blocking bottom part that matches the front?

I've been thinking about doing brown (wood tone) for the windows (& most likely shutters or loose the shutters) to get away from the expected black & grey. Also, love the white & gray colors used here & that the overall feels read "light & airy" ...not heavy like some of the darker grays
