Ceiling & Walls
Desire that ceiling, moulding/cornices/friezes, walls and columns reflect the antebellum period to the extent possible. At a minimum, we desire dentil/notched moulding/cornices, if that’s the economical period design we can afford. Very interested in what we can optimize, i.e., achieve the best period look/effect for least money - for example, creative use of wallpaper friezes, patterned plaster, ceiling lighting medallions, stenciling/murals. Also need to decide on baseboard style; previous house had cabinets in family room and kitchen island that used claw feet to provide more formal, exquisite feel.
Barrel vaulted ceiling for foyer or hallways
Domed ceiling alternative for foyer, library or parlor.
Nice coffered wood paneled ceiling for great room or game room, except would want wood to match floors
Note use of stenciling and wallpaper to produce ceiling design that is cost-efficient and indicative of the period
