I like this charcoal color (BM-166 Kendall Charcoal) for our dining room. With the creamy wainscot I think it would work nicely. Also these pendants look like our CB2 Noir pendants. Perhaps instead of a single chandelier we could change to hanging two of these pendants over the table. I also like the look of the chairs but they don't seem like they would be comfortable. Great color, I can pull the sample and look at it tomorrow. If you really like it, I can order you a large sample to look at in your house. Hanging individual pendants over a table usually means a cluster of three. Two might not really look substantial enough. Considering all you have going on in the dining room + the large table, I feel like one fixture will be more aesthetically pleasing.
Here's another example of a bathroom where the travertine is consistent (and unaccented.) Yes, actually this entire space is unaccented, no door hardware, no decorative light fixtures, single controls on faucets, etc. Great look, very serene, but probably difficult to achieve in your project because it would mean an entire tear down of baths and it would not really jive with the exterior of your house. But yes to taking out the accent tile and just using the existing tile instead. Depending on how good the tile guys are and where the tile joints are, you might have to re-do the entire wall with the new tile.
This field tile looks like the travertine in our master bathroom. Perhaps removing all of the accent tile from the shower and the backsplash of the sink and tub and replacing it with the existing travertine would make it look more serene. (Also changing the fixtures.) The accent tile in the niche in this photo is very subtle, which I like. Yes absolutely replacing the accent tile with just the plain tile would quiet everything down.
I think the use of different size/scale cabinet hardware in this kitchen is really interesting. Wide bar pulls on the drawers, shorter pulls on the upper cabinets, and tiny ones on the lower cabinets. What they have done here is size the pulls in relationship with with of drawer fronts and then used small pulls (placed in the opposite direction) for all doors. This looks very nice but I would caution, because you have so many doors and drawers and also overhead cabinets (not pictured here), so many different details on the pulls could end up to be a very busy accent which is exactly what you want to correct .
For downstairs guest/office bathroom - would these longer subway tiles work better than the standard 3x6? Saving this photo bc the tile goes all the way to the ceiling and around the room. They probably would look better because sometimes the larger tiles make the smaller space look larger. I just refered to the picture of this bath and because I don't know how high the backsplash is above the sink, I am not sure if these tiles could be continued as a backsplash without having a weird cut on the tile. But as you see in this picture, if that is the case, you could always continue the existing marble (or any material you choose for the top) up into the backsplash space.
Holy crap, I love this. Very pretty. This is a large, feature mirror, not for over the sinks.
Office/guest bathroom vanity. Great looking, nice color finish. Especially more expensive because it does not include a top and sink. Also, you will need to check your plumbing under the sink to see how it will jive with this open base. If the rough plumbing is exposed then you would additionally have to order finished (nicer) plumbing to complement the fact that it is exposed.
Office/guest bathroom vanity. Both of the vanites you just posted are very nice with inset doors and a more rustic finish. If you switch to this style for office, powder, and master then you would probably have to do about the same to kids bath. Otherwise theirs would be the only bath with such different cabinets. Also, maybe they offer it pre-drilled for 8" spread faucets (I believe you have 8" faucets everywhere)? The pic shows it drilled for a single control faucet.
Would love to replace my master bathroom vanity with a rustic, darker wood version like the one in this picture. It would tie in better with the accent tile in the shower. Actually this would look good in your bath. This is a shaker style with an inset door. Maybe you could do a shaker overlay door (which means you don't have to rip out your cabinets) and the finish although the same color as the boxes could be more rustic instead of just painted.
I like the light fixtures and countertops. yes would agree this looks very good. The island countertop looks like a solid surface material that imitates marble. The back counter tops are most definitely solid surface material, I just did a kitchen in Coral Gables with this color counter top on the main part of the kitchen. Cabinets were also just like these.
Master bath idea - white cabinets but retain the ORB fixtures. Also two rectangle mirrors with overhead fixtures instead of the in-mirror fixtures we currently have. Would not do wood floors, obviously. All sounds good. The 3-light fixture in this picture is completely out of scale with the size of the mirror. Usually a mirror of this size would have a 1-light fixture in the center or sconces flanking each side. Maybe a 2-light is ok depending on size of each mirror.
I like the long, slim drawer pulls. Maybe in oil rubbed bronze. They look great. Just remember your kitchen is huge which means a lot of hardware. Again, consider volume in the overall picture. We would have to go through your doors/drawer count to see how many extra long ones you need for drawers and how many standard long ones for doors. If all you see is hardware when you look at kitchen it can appear very busy...
Guest bathroom ideas. Fun shape on the wall tile. Love the floor tile, but I would not ever put that on a shower floor. Unfortunately, if you really want to make the shower floor slip resistent, you need more grout lines. A smaller size tile like a mosaic works best. Love this floor though if it were for the main floor of the bath. Would love this type floor for the powder room where there is no shower.
This kitchen has the same colors as our kitchen - off white cabinets, dark island (although this one is espresso, not black) and cosmic black granite. It looks much cleaner and more modern bc of the simple countertop edges, no glaze on the cabinets, and lighter hardware. Yes you are correct, the lack of those details make it look simpler. But my guess is if you add up the cost of doors/drawers with a different finish, re-doing the edges of your granite and new pulls, you might be spending more money to accomplish the same goal. Other than taking the tax write off for donating, if you had the inclination to do so, I know your existing granite could be easily sold on Craig's list. DIY's scour Craig's list for this type of item.
Guest/office downstairs - not the colors but the layout. Possibly a sofa bed under the big window and then a desk along the wall with two windows? If you need this space to also function as an office then this layout is not a bad idea. But, 1) I can't remember, how far off the ground this big window is? Unless it is high off the ground the back of the bed (as shown in the pic) would show above the window sill to the front exterior of the house (bad!) and 2) a sofa bed or trundle type bed, shown here, is always a lesser option for a comfortable bed. I think you have enough space in this room to put a bed between the two windows and run the line of cabinets/desk on the long wall. The final decisions though will be based on what you consider to be the most important function of the space. What is your first consideration? Storage and office or guest room?
