The kitchen was completely updated with custom cabinets along two entire walls, finished in a soft cream color. The full height upper cabinets feature glass door inserts and LED strip lighting for display areas, and they enhance the openness of the kitchen. Contrasting dark stained cabinetry was installed for the large island. The stunning feature of this kitchen is the eye-catching custom hood fan crafted in curved wood finished in a dark stain to match the island. New stainless steel appliances were installed including wall ovens and a warming drawer. The island serves up maximum function, which has ample circulation area around it. In addition to providing a central counter surface and area for seating, it houses the sink, dishwasher, and a beverage cooler. The large floor to ceiling cabinet section adjacent to the wall ovens provide for ample storage of pantry supplies.

Soft-close blu-motion full extension glides are installed in the cabinetry. Counter tops are cosmic black granite, for natural beauty and easy maintenance. The back splash features elegant rectangular white tiles with a subtle raised profile, installed in a linear design and highlighted beautifully by the LED lighting installed under the cabinetry. This kitchen is the heart of this family home, and the design is timeless.

This kitchen has the same colors as our kitchen - off white cabinets, dark island (although this one is espresso, not black) and cosmic black granite. It looks much cleaner and more modern bc of the simple countertop edges, no glaze on the cabinets, and lighter hardware.
Yes you are correct, the lack of those details make it look simpler. But my guess is if you add up the cost of doors/drawers with a different finish, re-doing the edges of your granite and new pulls, you might be spending more money to accomplish the same goal. Other than taking the tax write off for donating, if you had the inclination to do so, I know your existing granite could be easily sold on Craig's list.
