It is a Hainan Gray or a Hainan Black Basalt (depending on lighting in photo), Chinese origin. We supply many fabricators and distributors in North America. The gray is available in slab size all the way down to tiles. The black needs to be ordered more selectively. Maximum comfortable size is about 30"x72". Stairs are easy. This is inexpensive material. This is a honed finish.

pure guess, but $20 says its porcelain tiles. they come really big (3' x10') now out of italy and really thin, like 1/4". I have some 40" x 52" just installed on my floor and i almost wish i would have gone even larger.
