About Us

JY Design, based in Clive, IA primarily works with homeowners and business owners on interior and exterior design projects in central Iowa, and the Quad Cities. Julie Youngblade has been in the interior design field since 2004 and opened JY Design in 2009. With a BA in Design, her passion is problem solving and crafting great design that matches up with the sensibility of the client's design style. Whether a new construction, remodel, or just a room re-fresh, JY Design is about creating comfortable spaces and lasting value. In May of 2015, we relocated to a showroom in Clive, and by appointment, will work with clients to create beautiful furnishings and selections. We hired Julie to help with the build of our new home. The many decisions to be made while building a new home was very overwhelming, but Julie took the stress away. She is very professional, knowledgeable and accommodating. I can't say enough good things about our experience working with her. She literally helped with every aspect of the project from the ground up. She helped pick out paint colors, flooring, light fixtures, hardware,countertops, window treatments, closet design, furniture, and so much more. She was respectful of our style and budget. We never felt pressured. She offered great advice and has access to multiple sources. She is reliable and dependable and facilitates all work to be done. She follows up and makes sure everything is completed to your satisfaction. She has great insight and a real flare for planning out and decorating a space and making it all come together. We highly recommend consulting with her before undertaking any new build, remodel or redecorating project. We couldn't be happier with the way our new home turned out. Julie at JY Design helped us choose all the parts of a main floor remodel/update in our 14 year old traditional (lots of oak trim) house. She offered well informed advice on flooring, countertop, sink, faucet, lighting, backsplash, carpeting and wall color. Julie has access to all the source options, knows installers, will help facilitate all the work to be done, and follows through to make sure you are happy with the results. She's a great ilstener and is detail oriented. Highly recommend!

I struggled with choosing a designer, afraid that my voice and personality (and, yes, budget) would be overshadowed by the designer's "vision" for my projects. When I called Julie, I was immediately comfortable, and our first meeting confirmed that I had made the right choice. In the last 15 months or so, Julie has helped me redo my family room and refresh my kitchen. She masterfully blends her design expertise with her instincts about the client...in my case, recognizing that I sometimes needed a little push to make a decision and other times stepping back and waiting for me to choose. Most importantly, my projects are not the type that will show up in any magazine, but I always receive the same comprehensive, start-to-finish service as if they were. I especially appreciated Julie's standards of excellence; she once spotted the slightest variation in my backsplash installation--one that I hadn't even noticed--and it was fixed the next day. I have come to think of Julie as a friend as well as a designer. If you are looking for a personable, down-to-earth and very knowledgable designer, I recommend you give Julie a call.
