Ken Herman with Bear Roots Builders was chosen to remodel our twenty-year old deck and to build a custom deck at our residence. We talked to several deck contractors before selecting Ken. He was the only deck contractor who assured us he could remodel the deck and attach a roof to the house to cover the west facing deck. There was no roof before the remodel which made the deck pretty useless when the sun was out. His company performed a full turn-key project with him as contact. Nice because all phone calls were answered or returned and he handled it all. He made excellent suggestions for stucco work, the size of the roof, the configuration and direction of the stairs, the composite decking material, accent lighting, overhead fan, and can lighting. He encountered some defective workmanship from the original builder that increased cost to remodel. Ken informed us upon learning of the defect and corrected the problem in a professional manner. Without this repair the house would continue to suffer from water damage. Many kudos for fixing this problem. Ken's craftsman demonstrated a high degree of pride and skill in their work. These men were befitting of the quality of the finished deck. Ken and Bear Roots delivered on their promises and the finished deck exceeds our expectations. After an absolute awful experience with my first TWO contractors, I was referred to Bear Roots by a friend. I was four months past delivery date on my commercial building and time is money. Ken stepped in with a great team, and they had my doors open within 3 weeks. He took an absolutely awful "finished" job from the first contractor and actually made the place presentable. Actually, that doesn't do his work justice. They place looks amazing and clients comment daily on how great the space looks now. He was a man of his word and finished the job in a timely manner because he knew just how frustrated I was with the HUGE delay. Great job, good price, and I would highly recommend Bear Roots!
