Modernizing the 90s: A Functional Scandinavian Kitchen & Dining Remodel
This project required breathing new life into a classic 1990s layout. The original kitchen and dining area felt dated, closed off, and burdened by heavy finishes. Our goal was a complete aesthetic and functional evolution, converting the space into a serene, Scandinavian-style haven. We began from the ground up by replacing the old floors with pale, matte luxury vinyl planking to instantly brighten the footprint. The kitchen was redesigned with streamlined surfaces to optimize workflow and reduce visual clutter. To elevate the atmosphere, we implemented a sophisticated, layered lighting scheme that transitions beautifully from day to night. Finally, we replaced the heavy, traditional room-dividing railing with a slim, minimalist profile, opening up the visual flow of the entire level. This transformation perfectly balances Nordic simplicity with the demands of a busy, modern lifestyle.
