Lighting Design Done Right
What could be an easier way to improve the feel of your space than good lighting choices? I've been in rooms that have beautiful furniture, but I can barely see it! I think that lighting placement and design is too often overlooked as a key player in the success of a room.
Pay attention to the type of lighting you use: Focus on providing various types and heights of light sources in each room. Place fixtures evenly throughout a room to avoid dark corners. Use dimmers whenever possible. Add task lighting wherever you want to read or work. Get creative and think outside the box -- play with the scale of pendants and chandeliers to create drama. Have fun with it -- lighting is a great opportunity to add personality to your home!

Use various light sources in each room. Wall sconces provide ambient light and the picture lights draw attention to the artwork.
Break the mold: Consider using a drippy chandelier in a living room rather than a foyer or dining space. How fun is this room?
Another great example of getting creative...
A large pendant is a nice unexpected touch.
