The client requested a room that would embellish a “middle of the woods” feel. We selected comanche beds in vintage black iron with black gunslinger culp leather insets by Old Biscayne to make this transformation. We added bead board wood to the ceiling with a natural finish for reflective properties adding coziness and charm. We selected a chest from John Richards that shouted “old country cottage” and it hit the mark. We searched and found a shag area rug comfortable on feet and resembling a cow hide formation to place between the two equestrian styled queen beds. It was from Walmart (Note to self: don’t underestimate the most unlikely places to find accessories and finish products.) We included Eastern Accents Sandrine Ecru cotton blend coverlets and soft down pillows to create a room that guests will hardly want to leave. The linens are my favorite by Jennifer Adams and will be a hit with anyone who experiences a night’s sleep on them. We topped it off with faux fur ottomans by Bernhardt to work as luggage racks and/or sitting spots for getting shoes, etc. on and off at the foot of each bed. The dust ruffles are ticking off black stripe fabric and were ordered through Grandin Road. The throw pillows were custom made by Boca Bargoons in North Palm Beach, Florida. (Well worth a visit if you are in the area. They have an extensive selection of high end fabrics at discounted prices and a professional work room that will create exceptional custom window treatments, upholstery and bedding/pillows.) The saddle leather mirror was selected by the client and ordered through Wisteria. It enhances the beauty of the John Richards Collection antique chest below it.The brushed silver stag lamp enhances the chest and accessories that belong to the client. The lamp is no longer available to purchase. This room encompasses many of my favorite things. Kids' bedroom - mid-sized transitional medium tone wood floor kids' bedroom idea in New York with white walls

This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area and screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for a shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear-facing exercise has great views of the lake through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below.

Between the amazing views out of the the huge windows and the luxurious four-poster bed with delicious linens and plenty of room to spread out, your guests may find no reason to leave! Call it beach- or coastal-cozy chic. Call it a spa-like retreat getaway room. No matter what you call it, it's the best room for a guest to feel at home.

Love the overscale windows. And the outdoor spaces are so great.” Situated atop an old Civil War battle site, this new residence was conceived for a couple with southern values and a rock-and-roll attitude. The project consists of a house, a pool with a pool house and a renovated music studio. A marriage of modern and traditional design, this project used a combination of California redwood siding, stone and a slate roof with flat-seam lead overhangs. Intimate and well planned, there is no space wasted in this home. The execution of the detail work, such as handmade railings, metal awnings and custom windows jambs, made this project mesmerizing. Cues from the client and how they use their space helped inspire and develop the initial floor plan, making it live at a human scale but with dramatic elements. Their varying taste then inspired the theme of traditional with an edge. The lines and rhythm of the house were simplified, and then complemented with some key details that made the house a juxtaposition of styles. The wood Ultimate Casement windows were all standard sizes. However, there was a desire to make the windows have a “deep pocket” look to create a break in the facade and add a dramatic shadow line. Marvin was able to customize the jambs by extruding them to the exterior. They added a very thin exterior profile, which negated the need for exterior casing. The same detail was in the stone veneers and walls, as well as the horizontal siding walls, with no need for any modification. This resulted in a very sleek look. This expansive Victorian had tremendous historic charm but hadn’t seen a kitchen renovation since the 1950s. The homeowners wanted to take advantage of their views of the backyard and raised the roof and pushed the kitchen into the back of the house, where expansive windows could allow southern light into the kitchen all day. A warm historic gray/beige was chosen for the cabinetry, which was contrasted with character oak cabinetry on the appliance wall and bar in a modern chevron detail. Designed by Interior Designer, A. Lantz Design, this Lake Charlevoix project was featured on the cover of Traditional Home magazine! This whimsy guest bedroom suite encompasses all things sailing! An ode to lake life, custom sail boat drapery adorns the windows while a vintage sail boat lithograph art piece hangs above the iron bed. Red stripe bedding with blue and tab pillows pop on the crisp white bed sheets while a vintage quilt hangs off the bed. The wall sconces allow for more room on the navy blue wicker side tables and the room is anchored by a beautiful, cozy navy and cream striped rug.

This zen bedroom is a mix of calm beige's with espresso trim accents and a dash of orange. The custom upholstered headboard is made by Avery Boardman in a Clarence House mohair. The platform bed (with storage underneath) has an extended edge that helps lead the eye into the suspended nightstands that have a raised glass top. The shoji panels were custom made by Cherry Tree Designs. We matched the design of them on the frosted glass on the bathroom pocket door. Under the exterior window treatment are roman shades that are made of light proof and sound deadening material. My client travels and wanted to be sure he can make a nighttime feel at any time of the day. The area rug is a neutral low pile looped wool rug that is very durable, soft and just the right look. The accent stool is upholstered in an Ultrasuede material and is used for putting on shoes, etc. To add a touch of drama we found an abstract colorful print for above the bed. All in all a room that is beautiful and custom fitted to the clients dream.

This is the first of three sets of bunks along the 34' wall in the 700 sq. ft. bunk room at Deja View Villa, a Caribbean vacation rental in St. John USVI. This section features a king bed on the bottom with shelves on both sides and a twin XL on the top. Each bunk has it's own lamps, plugs with usb's, a miniature fan and a beach picture with led lighting. A 6" wide full bed length granite shelf is on the side of each twin xl bed between the mattress and the wall to provide a wider, more spacious bunk! With the ceilings being 11' 3" tall, the bunks were custom built extra tall to ensure all guests, no matter what their height, can sit comfortably. The walls and ceilings are white painted tongue and groove cypress. Each of the six bunks have individual beach pictures and hand painted bunk signs to make ever guest feel special! The custom orange curtains provide privacy and the cable railing safety for the top bunks. The primary bedroom suite in this mountain modern home is the picture of comfort and luxury. The striking wallpaper was selected to represent the textures of a rocky mountain's layers when it is split into. The earthy colors in the wallpaper--blue grays, rusts, tans and creams--make up the restful color scheme of the room. Textural bedding and upholstery fabrics add warmth and interest. The upholstered channel-back bed is flanked with woven sisal nightstands and substantial alabaster bedside lamps. On the opposite side of the room, a velvet swivel chair and oversized artwork add additional color and warmth. The home's striking windows feature remote control privacy shades to block out light for sleeping. The stone disk chandelier repeats the alabaster element in the room and adds a finishing touch of elegance to this inviting suite.
