The client’s coastal New England roots inspired this Shingle style design for a lakefront lot. With a background in interior design, her ideas strongly influenced the process, presenting both challenge and reward in executing her exact vision. Vintage coastal style grounds a thoroughly modern open floor plan, designed to house a busy family with three active children. A primary focus was the kitchen, and more importantly, the butler’s pantry tucked behind it. Flowing logically from the garage entry and mudroom, and with two access points from the main kitchen, it fulfills the utilitarian functions of storage and prep, leaving the main kitchen free to shine as an integral part of the open living area. This garage overhaul utilized previously empty walls and opened up the space for more function while also creating a beautiful design solution. Adjacent interior sliding closet doors keep additional storage in close proximity while being cleverly concealed.

Designed for a busy, active family, this custom Redmond mudroom brings together beautiful craftsmanship, thoughtful organization, and everyday functionality. With children heavily involved in soccer and an on-the-go lifestyle, the space was designed to provide a dedicated place for the gear, shoes, jackets, bags, and essentials that come with a full family schedule. Custom blue cabinetry provides generous concealed storage while the built-in bench, open cubbies, and hooks make frequently used items easy to access. A dramatic series of skylights floods the room with natural light, while designer wall sconces, warm wood tones, and carefully selected finishes elevate what could have been a purely utilitarian space into a polished extension of the home.
