The historic restoration of this First Period Ipswich, Massachusetts home (c. 1686) was an eighteen-month project that combined exterior and interior architectural work to preserve and revitalize this beautiful home. Structurally, work included restoring the summer beam, straightening the timber frame, and adding a lean-to section. The living space was expanded with the addition of a spacious gourmet kitchen featuring countertops made of reclaimed barn wood. As is always the case with our historic renovations, we took special care to maintain the beauty and integrity of the historic elements while bringing in the comfort and convenience of modern amenities. We were even able to uncover and restore much of the original fabric of the house (the chimney, fireplaces, paneling, trim, doors, hinges, etc.), which had been hidden for years under a renovation dating back to 1746. The client requested a room that would embellish a “middle of the woods” feel. We selected comanche beds in vintage black iron with black gunslinger culp leather insets by Old Biscayne to make this transformation. We added bead board wood to the ceiling with a natural finish for reflective properties adding coziness and charm. We selected a chest from John Richards that shouted “old country cottage” and it hit the mark. We searched and found a shag area rug comfortable on feet and resembling a cow hide formation to place between the two equestrian styled queen beds. It was from Walmart (Note to self: don’t underestimate the most unlikely places to find accessories and finish products.) We included Eastern Accents Sandrine Ecru cotton blend coverlets and soft down pillows to create a room that guests will hardly want to leave. The linens are my favorite by Jennifer Adams and will be a hit with anyone who experiences a night’s sleep on them. We topped it off with faux fur ottomans by Bernhardt to work as luggage racks and/or sitting spots for getting shoes, etc. on and off at the foot of each bed. The dust ruffles are ticking off black stripe fabric and were ordered through Grandin Road. The throw pillows were custom made by Boca Bargoons in North Palm Beach, Florida. (Well worth a visit if you are in the area. They have an extensive selection of high end fabrics at discounted prices and a professional work room that will create exceptional custom window treatments, upholstery and bedding/pillows.) The saddle leather mirror was selected by the client and ordered through Wisteria. It enhances the beauty of the John Richards Collection antique chest below it.The brushed silver stag lamp enhances the chest and accessories that belong to the client. The lamp is no longer available to purchase. This room encompasses many of my favorite things. Inspiration for a mid-sized contemporary master white tile and stone tile concrete floor and gray floor bathroom remodel in Austin with flat-panel cabinets, a two-piece toilet, white walls, an undermount sink, a hinged shower door, medium tone wood cabinets, marble countertops and gray countertops

The client is an avid collector of books. Her modest cape cod home provided little room for the collection and she realized that her home did not take advantage of the depth of her property. The rear yard was unlandscaped and sloped toward the rear of the house. The goal was to create a library that oriented to a rear garden and to create an exterior terrace which would address the slope of the property and form a sheltered outdoor space for dining and relaxation. The solution was to create a library addition with a large bow window with built-in desk facing the newly formed upper garden. In collaboration with a landscape architect, we terraced the sloping site and created a courtyard between the garage and new library, sheltered by a pergola. The French doors added to the modest garage provide the other side of the courtyard.

Diane Wagner This client not only needed a new kitchen but they had no storage, no mudroom, and useless closet in the garage. We took over the closet made it part of the laundry room to recess the washer and dryer , add an indoor closet and allow space for a mudroom and extra storage. The kitchen was gutted and we added a large center island, custom cabinets, and eat in area . We added a slider with a transom so the table could be round. The Family room we added a sectional and added a ship lap wall. We lowered the mantle and added left over granite from kitchen for the surround. Both Island the wood mantle are painted the same gray tone.

Benjamin Moore’s Richmond Green was the client’s favorite color and we wanted the family room to feel enveloped in the hue. Saturated walls offer both a ‘wow’ factor as well as a calming effect within this space.

Inspiration for a transitional entryway remodel in Dallas

A soft and sophisticated master bedroom retreat with a beachy feel in Alexandria, Va. The soft blue/grey color is soothing and relaxing. We added a grasscloth wallpaper to the tray ceiling to draw attention to the architecture and highlight the rope chandelier. Custom linen draperies add softness and warmth in this large space. A large seating area was warmed and made functional by a custom designed, custom made sectional and storage ottoman.
