We decided to honor the home's historical elements and existing footprints to match the surroundings, while keeping the exterior facade intact. This Coral Gables client wished to have an outdoor shower designed for his existing pool deck. The goal was to make the shower look like an integrated, original piece of the patio, as well as have it designed as an architecturally exciting element. I designed the shower in a circular shape to reflect an existing circular jacuzzi, and faced the concrete frame with travertine tile to match the existing pool tile work. Some artistic distinction was created by adding short columns to bracket the shower entrance, each topped with a flowering planter to tie the shower in with the rest of the garden.

Dressing up end tables can be super exciting. In this case I went with end tables that don't match that have matching lamps, so the symmetry is there but without the stiff feeling that can sometimes come with that style. I picked rose as the pop of color for this space. Extra large lamps can also add elegance to a space. Pottery Barn was where I shopped for these end tables and the rose plant.

This Westbury NY home was an exciting renovation for an amazing couple looking to clean and brighten up their home. Their desire for a dreamy escape was achieved with large slabs of Calacatta marble on the kitchen counters, and a custom made breakfast table. The crystal sunburst chandelier takes center stage while brass chair details and cabinet hardware add elegance and sophistication. Quirky Fornasetti pottery & pillows, Pops of color in art and accessories along with whimsical wallpapered ceilings are infused throughout; adding an element of fun to this chic home. All elements come together creating a rich, light, airy space with unexpected accents that enliven and breathe excitement into the interiors.

We added a bit of texture and color to a patio in Alameda, CA. Aeonium and Oxalis vulcanicola ‘Burgandy’ set a dark red background for the green and red-ribbed leaves of an ornamental beet to leap out from. Phormium ‘Tony Tiger’ has tall upright straps that add height and exciting color to the ensemble!

The architecture/ the angled part of the building added to the exciting solution. Still providing the laundry room and maintaining the fabulous views added to the design challenge.

The Brief Create a WOW factor space, add glamour and fun and give the house a street side and garden side, both different. Our Solution This project was exciting from the start, the client wanted to entertain in a WOW factor space, have a panoramic view of the garden (which was to be landscaped), add bedrooms and a great master suite. We had some key elements to introduce such as an aquarium separating two rooms; double height spaces and a gloss kitchen, all of which manifest themselves in the completed scheme. Architecture is a process taking a schedule of areas, some key desires and needs, mixing the functionality and creating space. New spaces transform a house making it more valuable, giving it kerb appeal and making it feel like a different building. All of which happened at Ailsa Road.
