In this space, we updated the guest bathroom with new floors, painted walls, new plumbing fixtures, a blue vanity, and a new shower. This helped create a relaxed feeling in the space. Adding in light walls instead of the previous wallpaper helped lighten and brighten up the bathroom. We took out the old linoleum and replaced with marble look porcelain tile. Subway tile was the tile choice for both bathrooms. In the guest bathroom we created a tiled niche for bathroom products underneath the existing window. We updated the dated the plumbing fixtures from the same stainless steel finish as the cabinet hardware, curtain rod, and towel holder.

Doubling the size of a house takes a unique owner and unique house in a unique market. This house in the inner ring of suburbs around St. Louis could easily take the doubling of this house size (it was a small 2 bedroom house compared to others in the area), plus other homes in the area have already had significant additions to the rear of the original house. This design started as a craftsman or shingle styled home as suggested by the asymmetrically sloping roof that ties the 2nd floor to the front entry. The design would have been best suited with a stained wood siding or shake shingle siding, but the push for the large amount of square footage caused the need to reduce the cost of the exterior, resulting in white vinyl siding being used. A darker color vinyl would help lessen the abruptness of the change from a brick 1st floor to siding on the second.

The small details of this rope-twisted mirror perfectly complement the simplicity of the space. It’s the subtle touches that bring character and warmth to a room, adding just the right amount of texture without overwhelming the design.

The design team helped the owners create the home of their dreams out of a parcel with dense woodlands, a pond and NY State wetlands. Barbara was part of the team that helped coordinate local and state wetland permits for building a mile long driveway to the future house site thru wetlands and around an existing pond. She facilitated the layout of the horse paddocks, by obtaining tree permits to clear almost 5 acres for the future grazing areas and an outdoor riding ring. She then supervised the entire development of the landscape on the property. Fences were added enclosing the paddocks. A swimming pool and pool house were laid out to allow easy access to the house without blocking views to the adjacent woodlands. A custom spa was carved out of a piece of ledge at one end of the pool. An outdoor kitchen was designed for the pool area patio and another smaller stand-alone grill was provided at the main house. Mature plantings were added surrounding the house, driveway and outbuildings to create a luxuriant setting for the quaint farmhouse styled home. Mature apple trees were planted along the driveway between the barn and the main house to provide fruit for the family. A custom designed bridge and wood railing system was added along the entry drive where a detention pond overflow connected to an existing pond.

Our homeowner had dreamt about one day redoing her beyond outdated kitchen since they day her husband carried her over the threshold. Vinyl flooring used for a backsplash, dingy carpeting, laminate with no sheen left to speak of and mismatched cabinetry…. it was time to make it happen. A year’s worth of planning later, her time capsule became one dreamy kitchen. Functionality reigns supreme in this small, but efficient kitchen where every cabinet has a story to tell and a place to store it. Countertop space to the right of the stove was an added necessity for function and safety. The raised snack bar is perfect for day to day meals and the lowered countertop was a must for this petite baker. A new lighting plan includes recessed lights, under-cabinet and accent lights, while new lighting fixtures reflect the client’s sense of style. Dingy brick patterned carpet was removed making way for new hardwood floors toothed in from the dining room. An airy palette gained some weight with the use of larger details; the oversized hood, beefy turned posts, prominent apron front sink and a grouping of tall cabinets on the refrigerator wall. Our carpenters labored every detail from chainsaws to the finest of chisels and brad nails to achieve this eclectic industrial design. This project was not about just putting two things together, it was about coming up with the best solutions to accomplish the overall vision. A true meeting of the minds was required around every turn to achieve "rough" in its most luxurious state. There’s no statelier way to dine than around the table of this gracious South Carolina mountain home. Far from rustic, the room’s warm and airy grandeur provides an elegant space for both casual meals and elegant soirees. Displayed above the grand cast stone fireplace is a floral still life painting in a watery palette of seafoam and aqua. Celadon vases are filled with dried branches and buds, adding softness and height. Ivory plaster walls keep the space light, while dark gray molding, exposed beams and walnut-stained floors add depth. The windows are painted Sherwin Williams Black Fox. Draperies of white sateen, embellished with champagne embroidery, fall to the floor from metal hardware. Suspended from the plaster ceiling is an iron chandelier, adding its own light to the natural rays flooding across the floor. An espresso-stained trestle table stands on an Oushak rug in shades of almond, ecru and wheat, grounding this traditional dining room. Surrounding the table are large side chairs with carved legs covered in vanilla leather and trimmed with bronze nails. A taupe monogram on the back of each chair adds a personal touch reflecting the owners’ Southern roots. Wing-backed host chairs dressed in a grey and cream mini stripe bookend the table. The table is set with vanilla linen napkins, silver napkin rings and gold placemats. An arrangement of local hydrangeas fills a biscuit-glazed pot, finishes the lush tablescape.

Good things really do come in packages. Well, at least in this case. This swing set is comprised of 100% cedar and is the perfect size for smaller backyards or for the budget conscious. Most children love to access the play deck via the 2 ft. wide rock wall. To get down, they will glide down the 8 ft. long slide. The three position swing beam give children have the option to swing until the lights come on. We also added the gymnastic rings for the agile type.

Transforming this small bathroom into a wheelchair accessible retreat was no easy task. Incorporating unattractive grab bars and making them look seamless was the goal. A floating vanity / countertop allows for roll up accessibility and the live edge of the granite countertops make if feel luxurious. Double sinks for his and hers sides plus medicine cabinet storage helped for this minimal feel of neutrals and breathability. The barn door opens for wheelchair movement but can be closed for the perfect amount of privacy.

This 1927 Spanish Colonial home was in dire need of an upgraded Master bathroom. We completely gut the bathroom and re-framed the floor because the house had settled over time. The client selected hand crafted 3x6 white tile and we installed them over a full mortar bed in a Subway pattern. We reused the original pedestal sink and tub, but had the tub re-glazed.
