This Flying Horse North lot was a perfect setting for The Elbert, a modern farmhouse. From the moment you walk through the front door, your sightline is drawn to the incredible Pikes Peak view. We sought to capture the large space by blending a mix of different materials and textures. Superior craftsmanship incorporates a mixture of materials, from knotty alder and walnut on the main level, to hickory and quarter-sawn oak elsewhere, creating a rich and rewarding feel. Luxe granites complimented by beautiful tile work add depth and movement in many areas of the house — creating a refined feeling. Working with Jessica Brown of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries, we designed a palette of colors, patterns and rich textures to enhance and compliment the interior finishes. A mixture of grays, blues and whites provides a timeless, fresh and family friendly environment that makes The Elbert a sanctuary for entertaining and relaxing.
Kristin Hoaglund DesignThis beautiful French Provincial home is set on 10 acres, nestled perfectly in the oak trees. The original home was built in 1974 and had two large additions added; a great room in 1990 and a main floor master suite in 2001. This was my dream project: a full gut renovation of the entire 4,300 square foot home! I contracted the project myself, and we finished the interior remodel in just six months. The exterior received complete attention as well. The 1970s mottled brown brick went white to completely transform the look from dated to classic French. Inside, walls were removed and doorways widened to create an open floor plan that functions so well for everyday living as well as entertaining. The white walls and white trim make everything new, fresh and bright. It is so rewarding to see something old transformed into something new, more beautiful and more functional.

ONE DesignCompleted in 2014, ONE Design worked closely with GB Architecture and Design to compliment this expressive example of balance and elegance. Refinished redwood siding salvaged from Hangar One at Moffett Field fused with the glass shaft that slices through the south facing façade — offer a unique interpretation of materialistic fusion.
With a cantilevered steel and concrete stairs and floating catwalk bridging the double height entryway, the naked and unapologetic structure welcomes the viewer to this spectacular residence. The challenging topography required a customized structural design to allow the expression to reveal itself and rewarded the result with sweeping vistas. Featured as part of the AIA San Francisco Living Home tours in 2014, this property is a testament to architectural vision and collaboration.

French Creek Designs Kitchen & Bath Design CenterGalley kitchen needed a fresh update. White Subway Tile was the backdrop for this updated kitchen remodel. In addition, granite countertops freshened up the light oak cabinets. A desk area nicely adds dimension and workspace to the galley kitchen. With just a few additions, such as backsplash and stone countertops freshen up any kitchen is rewarding.

This project included a two-story addition with a kitchen/dining area on the first floor and bedroom/bathroom on the second floor. The house is located on a gently sloping site surrounded by woods and meadows. The kitchen features grey lower cabinetry and white upper cabinetry with a subtle, rounded board and batten backsplash. The dining area features a large picture window flanked by double hungs that look out over the meadow. The upstairs bathroom shares a tub/shower with another bathroom in Jack-n-Jill fashion. Phase II will include first and second floor renovations and an expansive rear deck and stone terrace.

With the assistance of our structural designer, Bob Gorman, P.E. and our longtime builder friend Craig Volpe, the project was brought to fruition and the delighted owners moved into their new space in April. Other than the build-out that matched the profile of the structure above
and the new windows into the new space, there was little change in the exterior shell of the structure, except that it now looked even better perched on the hillside. In the end, our work was rewarded with a very happy client who wondered why he hadn't done a project like this long before.

They also wanted to Provide direct access to a covered outdoor space, create a sense of connection between the interior and exterior, add gear storage for outdoor activities, and provide additional bedroom and office space. The Neil Kelly team led by Paul Haigh created a covered deck extending off the living room, re-worked exterior walls, added large 8’ tall French doors for easy access and natural light, extended garage with 3rd bay, and added a bedroom addition above the garage that fits seamlessly into the existing structure.
