We chose to refresh this basement's small entrance with a new Andersen Door. We brought functionality, natural light, and additional security by making a selection from Andersen's E-series line. The final addition of Emtek's Richmond Entry set in French Antique finishes this customized door.

1.5 inch Horizontal Redwood - 1/4 inch gap - Natural Finish - 2 coats

The grade of the sloping ground caused the addition to appear extra-tall and the patio to feel quite elevated. This posed significant challenges. To instill a sense of security while perched high in the screened-in porch, the stone wall was constructed slightly higher along the base of the northern end. This wall had to be high enough to invoke security in the space, yet low enough to maintain a view of the pond while seated.

Sticking to the classics. The Center Hall Colonial evolved primarily in colonial Maryland and Virginia beginning to appear about 1700, and became very popular. It partially developed as greater economic security transformed the reality of the American landscape, but it was also heavily influenced by its formal architectural relatives, the Palladian and Georgian styles with their emphasis on symmetry. This Center Hall Colonial constructed Franklin Lakes is no exception as it follows the historic precedence set by the colonial period and the folk form house. Sometimes if you want a house that evokes a sense of familiarity and simplicity of for, you got have stick to the basics.
