Hall Bathroom
Designed for two growing daughters to share, the hall bathroom balances timeless style with smart functionality. Although the room has just one small window, a carefully curated palette of warm whites, marble, and soft color helps the space feel bright and open.
Traditional details—including wall paneling, marble hex floor tile, pencil trim, and a pedestal sink—give the bathroom classic character while maintaining an airy feel. The same marble flooring continues into the shower to create visual continuity, making the room feel larger and less segmented.
Storage was thoughtfully integrated wherever possible. A recessed built-in cabinet takes advantage of otherwise unused wall space, giving each daughter her own dedicated shelf for everyday essentials. A shallow ledge behind the pedestal sink provides additional storage while helping the room feel more open by aligning the sink wall with the shower enclosure. The finishing touch—a patterned wallpaper added late in the design process—brings warmth, depth, and personality without overwhelming the space.

This unused basement pantry was remodeled into a bright and cheerful craft room.

The new Laundry Room and Folding Station. A rod for hanging clothes allows for air drying and prevents wrinkles and enhances storage and organization. The appliance color also compliments the neutral pallet of the rift sawn oak cabinets and large format gray tile. The front loading washer and dryer provide easy access to the task at hand. Laundry basket storage allows for easy sorting of lights and dark laundry loads. Access to the garage allows the room to double as a mud room when necessary. The existing plan had an underutilized entrance to the Bedroom that was empty and uneventful, and a small Master Closet that had reached capacity. By adding a wall to create a Master Hall, definition was created between the entrance, Master Closet, and Master Bedroom. Custom cabinetry with doors and drawers were added to the Master Hall, creating additional storage for jewelry and accessories, which allowed for more clothing storage in the main closet. While the finishes are simple, the detailed cabinet hardware and mirror contribute to the transitional style seen throughout this Bedroom.

The new galley style configuration features a simple work triangle of a Kitchenaid refrigerator, Wolf range and Elkay sink. With plenty of the seating nearby, we opted to utilize the back of the island for storage. In addition, the two tall cabinets flanking the opening of the breakfast room feature additional pantry storage. An appliance garage to the left of the range features roll out shelves.
The tall cabinets and wall cabinets feature simple white shaker doors while the base cabinets and island are Benjamin Moore “Hale Navy”. Hanstone Campina quartz countertops, walnut accents and gold hardware and lighting make for a stylish and up-to-date feeling space.
The backsplash is a 5" Natural Stone hex. Faucet is a Litze by Brizo in Brilliant Luxe Gold. Hardware is It Pull from Atlas in Vintage Brass and Lighting was purchased by the owner from Schoolhouse Electric.

My House Design/Build Team | www.myhousedesignbuild.com | 604-694-6873 | Duy Nguyen Photography -------------------------------------------------------Right from the beginning it was evident that this Coquitlam Renovation was unique. It’s first impression was memorable as immediately after entering the front door, just past the dining table, there was a tree growing in the middle of home! Upon further inspection of the space it became apparent that this home had undergone several alterations during its lifetime... The kitchen was once a space that revealed the home’s layered history. It was evident there had been an addition as the dropped ceiling exposed where garage space had been captured to become part of the kitchen. By re-configuring the layout, we were able to create a gathering area at the peninsula, additional storage space, as well as add a hood fan – something the original space was lacking. Details like the Grand Canal paint colour from Sherwin Williams paired with the vertical grain walnut cabinets create a modern-vintage feel for this kitchen.

The adage “good things come in small packages” was never more true than in the remodeling of this home’s small bathrooms. First, a powder room was renovated with a dynamic three dimensional wall decorated with chipped marble. A wall hung pedestal sink and embedded lighting create an ultra-modern appeal.
A second floor bathroom was gutted and redesigned to allow for a large walk-in shower. Marble walls, a tile floor, a rain shower head and a glass entry provide a spa-like feel. A marble countertop adorned with a white furniture-quality vanity and improved lighting are additional highlights.
While they were at it, the homeowners also redid the mudroom to create additional storage, a bench and locker storage. The added counter and back splash above washer and dryer make doing laundry and folding a lot easier.
