In many Parisian apartments, the bathtub may be shorter and deeper than those found in other parts of the world. This is because French culture places a high value on relaxation and taking time for oneself, and a deep soaking tub is seen as an essential element of this practice. In addition, Parisians often take baths with a mixture of salts and oils, which can help to soothe sore muscles and promote relaxation after a long day. Overall, the bathtub is a cherished feature of many Parisian apartment bathrooms, embodying the city's commitment to both style and self-care.

The architect’s plan showed two basic vanities with a freestanding tub. We took the space to the next level with design elements that promote calmness and clarity.
The tub was framed out with three niches on each side wall with indirect lighting focusing on sparkling mosaic tiles.
A storage cabinet was added above the countertop on each vanity to include outlets for chargeable items like razors, electric toothbrushes, and hairdryers. The vanities were designed to be partially floating for a lighter, airy feeling.
In addition to a bank of drawers on each vanity wall, rollouts and pullout waste baskets were incorporated behind the cabinetry doors for added functionality.
The clear shower glass door enables you to see the beauty of the tile while the adjacent frosted shower glass offers privacy in the commode area.
The subtle grey tones and light-colored tile invoke a soothing spa-like feel to the beautiful space.

Advice on interior design is available everywhere—from TV shows and websites to books, magazines and apps.
We love seeing people become engaged in design and educated on the wide range of possibilities. But we hope you’ll proceed with caution.
It’s not that style errors are a matter of life and death. It’s just that it’s easy to choose designs that aren’t necessarily reflective of your own personality and character. And since you’re typically stuck with your interior design decisions for years, styles that don’t quite fit can tend to grate on you.
Interiors that give one person comfort may unleash chaos in someone else. This goes beyond favorite colors or hot trends, right to the heart of interior design, where you find questions of composition, balance, repetition, space and more.
The goal is to find that unique combination of design elements that gives you comfort, support and balance.
In one home, that perfect balance was struck through the use of symmetry. A pair of comfortable swivel chairs sit beneath matching indigo patterned paintings. Matching bookcases below the paintings contain similar, but not identical, arrangements of books, vases and bowls. Woods and bronzes help warm up the simple white bookcase shelving.
Two matching poufs in front of the fireplace provide additional seating. The sofa is accented with a pair of pillows with a blue pattern that echoes the artwork.
The effect of the symmetry is to achieve order and simplicity, which I promote at every opportunity. After all, your home interiors should be the setting or the backdrop of your life—not center stage.
Antique bronze and blue are complementary colors. Together, they offer a rich palette of richness and depth, which brings out the beauty of wood and stone.
In the home office, a unique, whitewash-stained wooden desk rests on metal, Sawhorse-inspired legs for a warm, rustic look. The black leather chair features a contemporary silhouette with an antique brass frame. An adjustable desk lamp has bronze accents.
The bookcase combines a sleek, black metal frame with concrete shelves, for another unusual pairing. It’s kept uncluttered for an orderly, peaceful look. Items on the shelves include a bronze-accented lamp and a pair
of high gloss-finished wooden bookends.
The elegant artwork behind the desk is a simple midnight-blue and bronze with mottled white. Deep blues are again picked up in the rug, which adds a stately vibe with a modern pattern and satisfying texture.
Within the framework of symmetry, the living room repeats the blue-and-bronze color scheme.
A large midcentury brass clock above the fireplace keeps the natural stone visible, rather than hidden behind a painting or television, while its straight lines and color create a beautiful contrast.
The sofa is a soft, neutral blue. The pattern on the round brass side table features echoes the darker blue-patterned rug, as well as the rug in the office, tying the rooms together.
Indigo blue books adjacent to bronze vases on the shelves repeat the color scheme. The soapstone-topped coffee table echoes the shape of the fireplace. A pair of tall, matching floor lamps with long wooden bases, brass pulls and simple linen shades combine both the colors and symmetry found throughout the home.

DC Ranch Community
Style: Traditional-Southwest
Project Range: $40,000 - $50,000
Backyard Refresh: Replaced sod with synthetic turf, resurfaced bbq with new travertine patio, updated irrigation, lighting and new landscape
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of a traditional Southwest project in the esteemed DC Ranch Community. Our team had the pleasure of working with a wonderful client to transform their backyard into a stunning oasis that perfectly blends the charm of the Southwest with modern amenities.
The centerpiece of this project was the installation of new synthetic turf, providing the clients with a lush and maintenance-free lawn all year round. The vibrant green turf complements the surrounding desert landscape, creating a harmonious balance between nature and design. To further enhance the outdoor living experience, we resurfaced the barbecue area with exquisite travertine patio tiles. The rich earth tones of the travertine beautifully complement the Southwest aesthetic while adding a touch of elegance.
To ensure the outdoor space remains vibrant and well-nourished, we upgraded the irrigation system. Our team implemented state-of-the-art technology that optimizes water usage, promoting sustainability without compromising the health and beauty of the landscape. Additionally, we revamped the lighting system, strategically placing fixtures to accentuate architectural features and highlight the natural beauty of the surroundings during evening hours. The warm and inviting glow of the lights adds an enchanting ambiance, perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying peaceful evenings outdoors.
With the completion of this traditional Southwest project, our team has created a breathtaking outdoor space that seamlessly blends the natural beauty of the DC Ranch Community with modern amenities. It is our utmost pleasure to have worked with our valued client, and we are delighted to witness the transformation of their backyard into a captivating retreat that will be cherished for years to come.

Modern Pergola Designs Enhance Outdoor Spaces
Vetta Nordic Spa is nestled in the peaceful countryside of Oro-Medonte. It offers a unique combination of relaxation and beauty. What is its most striking feature? Pergolas are dotted throughout the landscape and provide a peaceful retreat for visitors.
Transform Outdoor Spaces With Elegance
Aluminum pergolas are a popular way to create outdoor living spaces. They feature a louvered roof that can be opened and closed, providing protection from the elements while still allowing you to enjoy being outside. Vetta Nordic Spa in Horseshoe Valley was transformed by the addition of eight modern pergola designs. These added style and comfort to an already beautiful relaxation spot. The Finnish-inspired spa is a place to escape daily stress and recharge.
Relaxation Inspired by Beauty
Vetta Nordic Spa guests immerse themselves into the beauty of nature and reconnect with it. Aluminum pergolas offer shade and shelter to enhance the relaxing experience. They allow guests to enjoy their outdoor environment, while still being protected from light rain or the sun. They also create a cozy and inviting atmosphere by providing a designated area for lounging or socializing. Aluminum pergolas enhance the beauty of the spa landscape and add comfort.
The Best Pergola Designs Are Inspired by European Inspiration
Our pergolas were a practical and elegant choice. Modern European design inspired us to create a harmonious combination that enhances privacy in any season. The guests are immersed in a luxurious experience that allows for total body rejuvenation, similar to the hot pools in Iceland and Norway where people can interact. The aluminum pergolas are an important part of Vetta Nordic Spa's overall experience. They offer unique ways to connect with the natural world and promote wellbeing. Come and enjoy these tranquil spaces, whether you are looking for solitude, family time, or just a moment to reflect.

Starry Nights Farm, an organic cattle farm in southern Wisconsin, requested a home in line with their sustainability goals: net zero energy, health-promoting, and a functional farmhouse. Durability and resilience were also priorities, so we chose Insulated Concrete Forms as the wall system, and in addition to heat-pump space conditioning, added a pellet stove for supplemental and backup heating.

The details of the space include a spacious open porch finished in all low-maintenance materials. We used Envisions decking in “Spiced Teak” for the floor and accented the warm hues with white vinyl railing. We also wrapped the porch posts with white vinyl to extend the low-maintenance qualities and add continuity throughout the design. For the porch ceiling we used a rustic-inspired pine tongue & groove and topped it off with a ceiling fan to promote relaxation and refuge. In addition, Archadeck Outdoor Living installed a second sconce above the door(s) that lead into the porch in order to provide symmetry.

Melanie's inspiration for this sunroom was the grand era of the 1920’s when the prosperous gold coast of Long Island was built. The Sun Room pays homage to the glamorous, opulent lifestyles of the wealthy industrialists who were the residents of the Gold Coast estates in the 1920’s. We preserved the original aged brick walls and intricate metal work in the windows and chose materials for the room that would reflect and refresh the original design. Melanie chose two teal and white Mamounia rugs from The Rug Company in silk and wool to reflect the pattern in the metal work on the windows. Natural light was a major component when designing the sun room so we used reflective objects from mirrored pillows, brass light fixtures, brass objects in addition to a huge brass wall mirror to capture the natural sun light in the room. The estate is set on 6 rolling acres of land, so we used oversized planters with boxwood, and a huge aceda palm tree in the oversized ottoman to bring that outdoors into the room. A one-of-a-kind natural, driftwood table with teal resin from Andrianna Shamara's brings more nature into the room and sits in front of the waterproof Vondom sofa which was custom-made in Valencia Spain. All of the seating in the Sun Room is outdoor furniture and waterproof. A huge Brass sputnik light fixture sits above the sun room reflecting more light into the large brass mirror. An Ironies honeycomb table brings in texture to the room and holds reflective brass candlesticks and large piece of turquoise Slag Glass sits on an Oscar De La Renta book, another American style icon. A Milo Baughman brass bar carts holds a Christofle Martini shaker, martini glasses and a Gabriella Crespi brass and crystal ice bucket would service the captains of industries who displayed their fortunes from the industrial revolution with lavish parties in the their grand estates to celebrate the opportunities and accomplishments that they had worked so hard to achieve. The unprecedented economic prosperity was a distinctly unique aspect of Americana when wealthy industrialists, a hard working generation, helped promote American design and American Dreams.
