An old stone mansion built in 1924 had seen a number of renovations over the decades and the time had finally come to address a growing list of issues. All of the home’s bathrooms needed to be fully gutted and completely redone. In the master bathroom, we took this opportunity to rearrange the layout to incorporate a double vanity and relocate the toilet (the former bathroom had only a small single vanity with the toilet awkwardly located directly in front of the door). The bathtub was replaced with a generous walk-in shower complete with frameless glass and digital controls. We located a towel warmer immediately outside the shower to provide toasty towels within easy reach. A beautiful Calacatta and Bardigiglio Gray basketweave tile was used in combination with various sizes of Calacatta marble field tile and trim for a look that is both elegant and timeless.

Free Float is a pool house that continues UP's obsession with contextual contradiction. Located on a three acre estate in Sands Point NY, the modern pool house is juxtaposed against the existing traditional home. Using structural gymnastics, a column-free, simple shading area was created to protect occupants from the summer sun while still allowing the structure to feel light and open, maintaining views of the Long Island Sound and surrounding beaches.

This home office was designed to act as both a serene guest room and a home office with work space for two people. Both the husband and wife work from home, so two desk spaces were a must. We were working with a somewhat small footprint, so we opted for a daybed that can pull out to become a king bed for guests. We brought in soft mint touches with rustic, industrial twists.

This kitchen remodel in Littleton, Colorado, resulted in the homeowners saying “I love it!” One of the design challenges was making room for three, yes three, refrigerators. The kitchen housed one fridge, and the dining room housed two. With the dining room in full view from the front entry, a solution was needed! Jan Neiges, of Jan Neiges CKD LLC, was up to the challenge. Jan states, “I suggested closing off the dining room and creating an open access (no door) to that room only from the kitchen. The design turned that room into a walk-in butler's pantry, providing additional space to add a desk area, a walk in closet for the client's kitchen accessories, and more counter space.” This kitchen remodel in Littleton, Colorado, featured Fieldstone Cabinetry’s Bristol door style in Maple finished in White. Jan listened to the homeowners needs, which included back health issues, and specified cork flooring and lots of dedicated storage features to assist with making the back issues manageable.
