Our client desired a space that would offer an outdoor feeling alongside unique and luxurious additions such as a corner fireplace and custom accent lighting. The combination of the full glass wall façade and hip roof design provides tremendous light levels during the day, while the fully functional fireplace and warm lighting creates an amazing atmosphere at night. This pairing is truly the best of both worlds and is exactly what our client had envisioned. Acting as the full service design/build firm, Sunspace Design, Inc. poured the full basement foundation for utilities and added storage. Our experienced craftsmen added an exterior deck for outdoor dining and direct access to the backyard. The new space has eleven operable windows as well as air conditioning and heat to provide year-round comfort. A new set of French doors provides an elegant transition from the existing house while also conveying light to the adjacent rooms. Sunspace Design, Inc. worked closely with the client and Siemasko + Verbridge Architecture in Beverly, Massachusetts to develop, manage and build every aspect of this beautiful project. As a result, the client can now enjoy a warm fire while watching the winter snow fall outside. The architectural elements of the conservatory are bolstered by our use of high performance glass with excellent light transmittance, solar control, and insulating values. Sunspace Design, Inc. has unlimited design capabilities and uses all in-house craftsmen to manufacture and build its conservatories, orangeries, and sunrooms as well as its custom skylights and roof lanterns. Formal Backyard Garden Showcases the Beauty of Natural Gray Concrete This Pacific Northwest project called for a total backyard transformation that required a significant reduction in lawn space, most of which was saturated and mossy. Emily of Emily Russell Landscape Architecture designed this formal backyard garden which was installed by Northwest Construction & Landscape, LLC. Previously unused space was organized through the creation of a courtyard patio which functions as an extension of the house that the homeowner can use for family gatherings, entertaining, or reflection. Budgetary concerns led her to opt for concrete rather than a mortared flagstone patio. “I always let homeowners know that we can do either for them, but to me, going with concrete is an easy choice to make because of the cost savings,” says Colby Brand, President of Northwest of Construction & Landscape, LLC. Ashlar slate stamped concrete was suggested by Colby to mimic the pattern used in Emily’s conceptual design. The final plan featured natural gray, ashlar slate stamped concrete with antique coloring for texture. Colby and his team poured the steps first. Substantial in size – the rise is 4’ with a run of 5,’ and includes a 4’ landing on top – the steps allow an easy and fluid transition from inside to outside. After the steps were completed, the curved walkway on the side of the house was poured, connecting the backyard to the front yard. Instead of a conventional, rectangular shape for the 647 sf courtyard patio area, the formality of the plan called for sections of the concrete to bump out into the garden beds against the back side of the house, tying the contrasting elements together. Granite urns and curved, concrete benches purchased by the homeowner rest atop the rounded portion of the concrete and provide a space for sitting and an inviting view from the house. Regarding the final product, Emily Russell states, “My client and I are extremely happy with the finished patio. It's such an inviting space that is well loved and used on a regular basis.”

Contemporary kitchen and dining interior designed as part of a modern house collection, where warm natural wood, light stone, soft upholstery and expansive glazing create an elegant and welcoming residential setting. The restrained palette brings together practical built-in cabinetry and sculptural dining furniture, while large windows connect the kitchen and dining area with the surrounding garden. The kitchen is composed around a generous wood-finished island with a clean, monolithic form and integrated storage. Full-height cabinetry continues along the rear wall, creating a cohesive built-in composition in a natural oak finish. White upper cabinets introduce a lighter horizontal band, while the illuminated stone backsplash beneath them adds a refined surface with subtle veining. Integrated black appliances provide a discreet contrast within the pale timber cabinetry, and a minimalist white tap and kettle keep the worktop visually uncluttered. At the centre of the dining area, a large oval white tabletop rests on a substantial sculptural wooden pedestal, giving the room a softer, more organic character than a conventional rectangular dining table. Surrounding it are generously upholstered dining chairs in a light greige fabric, each with a rounded shell-like silhouette and slim dark legs. Their soft forms complement the curved edge of the table and reinforce the calm, contemporary character of the interior. Two pendant fixtures with oversized textured fabric shades hang above the dining table, adding scale and warmth to the composition. Their taupe-grey finish relates naturally to the upholstery of the chairs, while the vertical suspension creates a visual connection with the high proportions of the Modbarn interior. On the tabletop, a small arrangement of ceramic vessels and shallow trays provides understated decoration without disturbing the clean lines of the setting. Underfoot, the natural timber herringbone floor extends from the dining zone towards the kitchen, contrasting with the light stone-effect flooring used around the kitchen work area. Full-height glazing surrounds the dining space and opens the room towards a green garden, with mature trees, lawn and a white vertical fence visible beyond the windows. The combination of bespoke wood cabinetry, a sculptural dining table, upholstered chairs, textured pendant lighting and generous garden-facing glazing demonstrates the contemporary interior design approach of STUDIO KONDE, an interior architect in Poznań creating refined residential spaces within the Modelowedomy collection.
