Design ExteriorsWe started with a blank slate on this newly built townhome at the base of the foothills. We utilized a Stone Forest water feature as a focal point for the patio, book ended by a pair of seat walls designed on a slight radius to contain the front of their sand finish concrete patio. The walls were veneered with tumbled San Miguel stone from Telluride and capped with Arizona Buff flagstone carefully chiseled to match the radius of the wall. Subtle landscape lighting is concealed under the wall caps.
To create privacy for their patio and to hide their air conditioner units, we fabricated and installed a system of Ipe and steel screens along the perimeter of the patio. A 13’ diameter Polaris patio umbrella by ShademakerUSA was installed to create ample shade for summer enjoyment of the patio.
To finish off the project and soften all the stonework, we brought in a specimen multi trunk Spring Snow crabapple and utilized Panchito Manzanita and Cranberry Cotoneaster as understory plantings. A lone Bartzella Itoh Peony was planted just off their deck to add a stunning splash of color, and a lush flare to the setting.
Tongue & Groove Design + BuildThis nautical-inspired home located on the Snows Cut inlet of Carolina Beach, overlooks waterfront views from every level with floor-to-ceiling windows, porches, and outdoor living spaces.
Inside, warm mahogany floors and built-ins contrast against light walls, trim, and custom cabinetry. Subtle blue and gray tones, porthole windows, oyster tabby and shiplap ceilings featured throughout add nautical elements.
Snows Cut Contemporary considers every aspect of our client’s lifestyle – both how it feels and how it functions. With indoor-outdoor living as a primary focus, the design incorporates ample natural sunlight, a folding door unit between the rear porch and dining area, a folding window unit above the kitchen peninsula, and multiple sets of sliding doors from the bedrooms and Gathering Room. On the ground level, garage doors open the bonus area to a covered lanai, leading to the pool and spa. At the center of the design is a fully automated 11’ x 9’ inground spa, equipped with a dedicated pump for powerful swimming jets and a sleek sheer descent water feature. The spa is finished with pour-in-place coping, stack stone on the spa facing, and low-voltage LED lighting to enhance both functionality and nighttime ambiance.
Adjacent to the spa is a custom rectangular fire pit, featuring pour-in-place coping, stack stone veneer, and integrated low-voltage lighting, creating a warm and inviting focal point for evening gatherings.
For entertaining, we built a custom BBQ island topped with a concrete countertop, and fully equipped with an ice chest, refrigerator, trash pull-out, and ample storage space, offering both durability and a clean, modern aesthetic.
The hardscape includes 24” x 12” decking pavers installed throughout the yard and continued along the side of the house, all designed with proper drainage for long-term performance and durability.
A raised planter system adds structure and greenery to the space, finished with pour-in-place coping, smooth stucco planter faces, and low-voltage lighting both on and within the planters. An irrigation drip system was integrated into all planters to ensure efficient watering and healthy plant growth with minimal maintenance.
To soften the design, artificial grass with stepping stones was installed, creating a low-maintenance, lush look while improving flow through the yard.
For evening atmosphere, three metal posts were installed for string lighting, complemented by low-voltage lighting throughout all flat and raised planters to deliver layered, resort-style ambiance after dark.
Finally, white vinyl gates and fencing were added to enclose and conceal the spa and pool equipment, topped with a privacy extension to keep the space visually clean and private.

While the existing layout wasn’t inherently flawed, this primary bathroom felt outdated and lacked the desired aesthetic appeal for our client. The goal was to revitalize the space, catering to her refined taste while ensuring a bright, inviting ambiance. The client wanted a comfortable and classy gender-neutral design that would retain its updated look and have broad appeal for eventual resale.

Single, spacious tub niche for products and decorative accents

Ferdinand Castillo Landscape Architectthis project began with an dilapidated site with no landscape. The large front yard was unusable for this family with 2 young boys. the inspiration was to create a clean modern space but with ample room for the children to have practical outdoor play areas. the anchor of the project was to use a large 2 ton rock, already purchased by the owner, and create a center piece. the rock was converted into a water feature and the space was developed into a meditative seating pit wrapped in corten steel. the remaining areas were developed as retaining / seat walls bordering the open lawn play areas. modern railings & fence were designed to wrap the upper patio and perimeter fence. landscape lighting provide enough light for safety and mood.
