Just last year, in order to give visitors the best shopping and entertainment experience, the official Westfield Valencia Town Center in California announced a $100-million investment to add features, including a new Costco, luxury cinema and fitness center, dramatically transforming the site of one of the mall’s original anchor stores，and planed to be completed by mid- to late-2020. We are honored to have the opportunity to be a custom furniture supplier in the food court area of ​​this project. We received enquiries from the client in the US in early April 2019. After learning and discussing the details of the project, our team took the project seriously and offered a quote to our client. Taragano Design & Build completed this two story rear addition in San Francisco, California. On a narrow urban lot there is no direction to build but up and back, and the constraint that governs everything is the rear yard setback. The addition was held to the line, which fixed the footprint before any interior planning began. Every square foot inside came from stacking rather than spreading. That created the real problem, which is access. Adding upstairs living space on a lot this size means the upper floor has no way out to the yard, and in a city where outdoor space is scarce, an upper floor that cannot reach the ground wastes the yard it sits above. The exterior stair answers that. It runs down the property line where it takes nothing from the usable patio, and it gives the upper floor its own direct route out. The deck was kept deliberately small. A larger platform would have shaded the patio below and turned the ground level into a covered service area rather than a place anyone would sit. Holding it to a landing keeps daylight on the concrete for most of the day, which is what makes the lower level the primary outdoor room. The two levels then read as one exterior. Continuous siding and matching trim across old and new means the addition does not announce itself as an addition, which on a rear elevation this visible from neighboring properties matters more than it would on a detached lot. THE APARTMENT NEXT TO THE PARK It is not often the case that an architect has a chance to work for someone he knows well and truly likes. I was lucky to design the investor’s former apartment some years ago which was a big advantage. We kicked off with mutual trust and understanding. We both wanted to design a luxurious urban apartment for an active businesswoman. Four-storey apartment building was erected on the edge of one of Warsaw parks. The place, immersed in stunning nature, is only 10 minutes’ drive from the city center. It is an excellent, prestigious location. From east and south the 160 square meters apartment is surrounded by large terraces that enlarge available space by additional 60 square meters. From the level of the second floor the apartment overlooks heavily-wooded park with a picturesque lake and a hill with a ski-lift. Living area of this open to three sides apartment is penetrated by the sun from dusk till dawn. The budget was considerable because of high standards of solutions used by the developer, particularly ventilation and heating installations as well as smart installation in KNX standard. The photo shoots and the publication (CZAS NA WNĘTRZE 10/2019) were a great pleasure. This gorgeous, serene nursery for this very much Loved new baby would need to have all the necessary amenities and easily be converted into a regular bedroom. My Client had an image of elephants as the father grew up with bedtime stories of Babar. The challenged was the size of the room only 94 sq. feet. And it would have to be transformed into a regular bedroom once the child was older. I was able to find high quality , beautiful classic furniture that also serves as double duty. Once the child would be old enough the crib can transform into a queen bed, and the removable part of the changing table becomes a 6 drawer dresser. The paintable wall paper color can be changed as well as all accessories. I believe in good quality furniture that can be passed down or converted. Yes it is more expensive but in the long run, classic pieces such as these can last a life time. Created by the concept of elephant accessories and soft pastel colors. Soft texture wallpaper and loads of storage used in an elegant way, This nursery will stand the test of time from 1 month to 18 years . One month before the birth of the child my clients found out they were getting a baby boy. He was born October 03, measuring 45cm and weighing 6.5 pounds.
