The pantry area features some glass- fronted BODBYN upper cabinetry which holds dishes and display items, which is next to the IKEA NUTID refrigerator and convection oven, as well as additional tall cabinetry on the opposite side. After agreeing on a white kitchen design theme, William claims the hardest part of the install was getting the kitchen itself structurally ready for cabinet installation. In particular, the age of the house was a unique challenge. So, since the house was originally constructed in 1915, the walls were not exactly plumb or square, he says. Therefore, they needed to move gas and water lines, and run new electrical. He adds that they removed some very old vinyl flooring, added drywall to walls which had severe plaster damage, and added light fixtures to the ceiling. “The IKEA cabinets themselves were rather easy to install, it was just challenging to get the filler panels to fit our walls, floors, and ceilings!” he notes. Complementing the white cabinetry is Atlantic Salt KASKER quartz countertops from IKEA. “We liked the look of the quartz better than granite, and IKEA actually had the countertops on sale when we purchased the kitchen” he says. The quartz countertops are seen on the end run by the sink as well as throughout the peninsula island that features the five-burner stove and ample space for dishes while cooking. Notably, a small peninsula area was included, providing even more storage options. William also points out that he used IKEA’s cabinet lighting system for above the countertops and a row of glass front cabinets as well. “I’m very pleased with the install and the ease of controlling the lights with the remote control” he notes. For William, there is some sound advice he wants to share with future IKEA remodelers. “The first thing is to join IKEA’s Family Program — and keep all your receipts! Our kitchen install had over 250 boxes, so even after checking upon delivery, we had some damaged items. Our IKEA store gladly exchanged these items with the receipts. We also utilized IKEA’s 90-day Price Protection Program through the IKEA Family Program” he says. And, he quickly adds, to keep your eyes out for the next IKEA sales event. “We had a feeling that a kitchen sale was up coming, but made our purchases before one was actually announced. However, when the sale was announced about a month later, we took our receipts back in, and were refunded almost $3,000 for items that had been put on sale after we bought them!” William says. He adds: “I also recommend that you try to understand the installation process for an IKEA kitchen, even if you aren’t installing the kitchen yourself. A great resource is YouTube, where there are many videos from contractors walking through IKEA kitchen installations.” These approaches will save you time, money and stress – and repeated trips to IKEA as well, he concludes.

Client wanted to update her Bathroom, change the Tub to a Stall Shower, make it a little Bigger & Improve much needed organized Storage Space. I am Proud to Announce, that this jewel of a small apartment co-op bath just: "Won my Fifth National Award!" Many of my Winning Awards for my "State of the Art Bathrooms", most of them were huge. It is far harder to Create a Beautiful Bathroom that is 5' x 6" and not make it look cluttered, where the client can retreat, from their stress of the day. Even though small, this bath has many of the features of my large bathrooms. The judges commented, that they couldn't believe how many things, I had put in this bath & it wasn't cluttered at all. Every inch counts! Firstly, the heavy cast iron tub was probably 60-70 years old. When we removed it, the back wall collapsed as they obviously used inferior products back then, behind the tile, which rotted. Then we removed the old vanity & found a heater under it, which had to be removed to accomodate the wall hung vanity. To make matters worse , when you sat on the commode your knees practically hit the opposite wall & the ceiling was only 7' instead of 8' high which made you feel very claustrophobic. The first thing we did, was move the wall across from the vanity back 1' taking the space from the linen closet and Master Bedroom Closet, which made all the difference in the world. Now we were able to move the bath door back, so you had more room on the commode and we were able to put a larger low rise commode & a wall to block it from the foyer. It the client had agreed, I would have mirrored the ceiling to give the illusion of a much taller & larger space! We deliberately selected soft light colors, recessed cabinets to increase the much needed storage for her bathroom items. She actually has 25+ times the storage space, organized with the 2 draws in the wall hung vanity, mirrored inside/out recessed medicine & storage cabinet, with de-foggers, GFI plugs, & even a soft night light that emanates from an opening at the bottom of the medicine cabinet, that eliminates you turning on a bright light and waking you up, in the middle of the night! Taragano Design & Build completed this stair landing as part of a whole house remodel in Contra Costa County, California. Split level houses have a circulation problem at the level change. The stair is usually enclosed, the landing is a dead corner, and the two floors read as separate houses. Here the enclosure came out and the stair was rebuilt as a wide open platform, so the level change becomes part of the room rather than a passage through it. Drawers were built into the step returns. On a stair that wide, the carriage volume is substantial and it would otherwise be sealed dead space. Putting storage there is the difference between an architectural gesture and a piece of the house that earns its footprint. The sliding door lets the upper hall close off without a swing arc, which matters at a landing where a hinged door would need clear floor area the stair does not have. Everything is rift white oak, including the treads, the risers, and the door. We are excited to announce the new feather in our cap. Tejjy Inc.'s latest government project- partnering with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Canine Training Center. This project involved the detailed scanning of the facility along with newly deployed HVAC design. Our brief was to provide an accurate and precise detailed as-built model of the existing Canine Training Center of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This was needed to plan and execute the renovation of the facility and to ensure functional HVAC system across the structure. Our challenge was to ensure minimal disturbance, as the training facility was fully functional, and activities were ongoing. To tackle this our expert team scheduled scanning and renovation processes and achieved minimal disruptions. Our skilled professional workforce utilized advanced Leica 3D Laser scanning to reality capture precise measurements of the existing structure. The precise point cloud data collected during our non-invasive scanning process was converted into an as-built 3D model. We crafted a Revit model with LOD 300 representing the current geometry of the training center. These accurate deliverables provided by Tejjy enabled the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to efficiently plan and execute the HVAC renovations. Tejjy's advanced 3D laser scanning services aided in magnifying the facility's comfort and operational efficiency. This project reflects our commitment to providing top-tier design solutions for government facilities, enhancing operational efficiency and infrastructure longevity.
