Inspiration for a mid-sized transitional boy carpeted kids' room remodel in Phoenix with multicolored walls

MA Peterson www.mapeterson.com We added a detached, exterior screened porch that connects to an existing, expansive deck wrapped around the back of the home. Textured landscaping and natural grasses provide a serene backdrop to the wooden frame, and iron balusters complete the railings with their contemporary look. Mounted on oversized beams that extend beyond the deck, the vibrant fabric roof color lends a cheerful, welcoming vibe. With the screened walls keeping bugs all at bay, this porch can easily be an all-hours destination for everyone in the family. A ceiling fan attached to the large wooden beams overhead helps stir the air on lazy summer evenings, and also includes a light that invites social entertaining or quiet reading long past dark. We chose cushioned, wicker swivel chairs to complement the full table and dining set, so there really is no excuse to rush out into the day. This expansive outdoor deck and garden is the ultimate in luxury entertaining, lounging, dining and includes amenities for shade, a vegetable garden, outdoor seating, outdoor dining, grilling and a glass enclosure with heaters to get the most enjoyment and extended use year round. Rooftopia incorporated multiple customized Renson pergolas into the central dining and lounge areas. Each of three Renson pergola systems and their unique features are controlled with the touch of a button. The motorized overhead louvers can be enjoyed open or fully closed to provide shade and a waterproof cover. Each pergola has integrated dimmable LED lighting in the roof blades or louvers. The seating and lounge area was designed with gorgeous modern furnishings and a luxurious fire table. The lounge area can be fully enclosed by sliding glass panels around its walls, to capture the heat from the fire table and integrated Renson heaters. A privacy and shade screen can also be retractable at the west to offer another layer of protection from the intensity of the setting sun. The lounges also feature an integrated sound system and mobile TV cabinet so the space can be used year round to stay warm and cozy while watching a movie or a football game. The outdoor kitchen and dining area features appliances by Hestan and highly customized concrete countertops with matching shelves mounted on the wall. The aluminum cabinets are custom made by Urban Bonfire and feature accessories for storing kitchen items like dishes, appliances, beverages, an ice maker and receptacles for recycling and refuse. The Renson pergola over the dining area also integrates a set of sliding loggia panels to offer a modern backdrop, add privacy and block the sun. Rooftopia partnered with the talented Derek Lerner for original artwork that was transformed into a large-scale mural, and with the help of Chicago Sign Systems, the artwork was enlarged, printed and installed as one full wall of the penthouse. This artwork is truly a special part of the design. Rooftopia customized the design of the planter boxes in partnership with ORE Designs to streamline the look and finish of the metal planter containers. Many of the planter boxes also have toe kick lighting to improve the evening ambiance. Several large planters are home to birch trees, ornamental grasses, annual flowers and the design incorporates containers for seasonal vegetables and an herb garden. Our teams partnered with Architects, Structural engineers, electricians, plumbers and sound engineers to upgrade the roof to support the pergola systems, integrate lighting and appliances, an automatic watering system and outdoor sound systems. This large residential roof deck required a multi year development, permitting and installation timeline, proving that the best things are worth the wait.

This 3,569-square foot, 3-story new build was part of Dallas's Green Build Program. This minimalist rocker pad boasts beautiful energy efficiency, painted brick, wood beams and serves as the perfect backdrop to Dallas' favorite landmarks near popular attractions, like White Rock Lake and Deep Ellum; a melting pot of art, music, and nature. Walk into this home and you're greeted with industrial accents and minimal Mid-Century Modern flair. Expansive windows flood the open-floor plan living room/dining area in light. The homeowner wanted a pristine space that reflects his love of alternative rock bands. To bring this into his new digs, all the walls were painted white and we added pops of bold colors through custom-framed band posters, paired with velvet accents, vintage-inspired patterns, and jute fabrics. A modern take on hippie style with masculine appeal. A gleaming example of how eclectic-chic living can have a place in your modern abode, showcased by nature, music memorabilia and bluesy hues. The bedroom is a masterpiece of contrast. The dark hued walls contrast with the room's luxurious velvet cognac bed. Fluted mid-century furniture is found alongside metal and wood accents with greenery, which help to create an opulent, welcoming atmosphere for this home. “When people come to my home, the first thing they say is that it looks like a magazine! This custom home utilized an artist's eye, as one of the owners is a painter. The details in this home were inspired! From the fireplace and mirror design in the living room, to the boar's head installed over vintage mirrors in the bar, there are many unique touches that further customize this home. With open living spaces and a master bedroom tucked in on the first floor, this is a forever home for our clients. The use of color and wallpaper really help make this home special. With lots of outdoor living space including a large back porch with marsh views and a dock, this is coastal living at its best.

We designed and built this recirculating pond and waterfall in Berkeley, CA. The plant palette includes an Acer palmatum 'Dissectum Viridis' as a focal point among the rocks and Acorus gramineus 'Ogon' helps to soften the edges of the stone. Epimedium pinnatum’s round leaves were used to contrast to the long blades of the Acorus. Fatsia japonica grows on the shaded banks.
