They wanted to bring together the home’s indoor and outdoor living space and make it comfortable year round in Alabama’s changing climate. Phantom’s screens were added to each window and door, allowing homeowners to control the sunlight and breeze that enters the indoor and outdoor living spaces without letting in bugs or debris. It was even possible to turn the porch into an ‘inside room’ contained from the elements, by lowering Phantom’s clear vinyl motorized screens. We developed a design that fully met the desires of a spacious, airy, light filled home incorporating Universal Design features that blend seamlessly adding beauty to the Minimalist Scandinavian concept.

On a corner lot in the sought after Preston Hollow area of Dallas, this 4,500sf modern home was designed to connect the indoors to the outdoors while maintaining privacy. Stacked stone, stucco and shiplap mahogany siding adorn the exterior, while a cool neutral palette blends seamlessly to multiple outdoor gardens and patios.

The Igloo Fireplace from EcoSmart Fire has a minimalist modern design that has an almost invisible profile. Its toughened glass frame allows it to blend seamlessly with a variety of decor styles from Asian to Scandinavian to Industrial.

Custom details and symmetry are the hallmarks of this special kitchen. Details and materials are subtly repeated, bookending the space and its components in this beautifully designed space. We used tin tile for the fireplace surround and the bar backsplash. Absolute black polish granite is used as the counter on the storage hutch and the bar. Beadboard is on the walls behind the entry cubbies and the fireplace. Walnut butcher block is used on both ends the island. The range is surrounded by identical looking cabinets, one of which is actually the paneled refrigerator! Throughout, black accents and hardware match the iron hardware on the room’s Dutch door, which is original to the house. The wood element is carried through out the room in big (the island ends, the floor) and small (wood element on hood, reclaimed wood shelving) ways. After tearing down this home's existing addition, we set out to create a new addition with a modern farmhouse feel that still blended seamlessly with the original house. The addition includes a kitchen great room, laundry room and sitting room. Outside, we perfectly aligned the cupola on top of the roof, with the upper story windows and those with the lower windows, giving the addition a clean and crisp look. Using granite from Chester County, mica schist stone and hardy plank siding on the exterior walls helped the addition to blend in seamlessly with the original house. Inside, we customized each new space by paying close attention to the little details. Reclaimed wood for the mantle and shelving, sleek and subtle lighting under the reclaimed shelves, unique wall and floor tile, recessed outlets in the island, walnut trim on the hood, paneled appliances, and repeating materials in a symmetrical way work together to give the interior a sophisticated yet comfortable feel. This sun-filled farmhouse kitchen is the focal point of this home’s new addition. The kitchen is white with wood elements, giving it a contemporary feel. From the recessed outlets in the island, to the columns adorning the island, to the hood with walnut trim, to the paneled refrigerator that matches the cabinetry, every detail was customized for the homeowners. The kitchen is anchored by a large island with seating for seven and tons of storage. The island is bookended by additional components topped by walnut butcher block counters. One end serves as a table and the other end is an extra area for food prep and storage. There is also a cutting board integrated into the sink. The white quartz on the island and main kitchen counters and white subway tile backsplash give the kitchen a modern, sleek look. The need for a kitchen better suited to entertaining was the driving force behind the start of this great kitchen remodel. The original kitchen and adjacent living area were redesigned to encompass a new larger kitchen with semiformal eating area along with a wet bar and great cozy sitting room. The clients Christine and Steve along with the interior designer Sharon Ryan made great choices in products and finishes to give these new spaces a fresh new look that blended seamlessly with the rest of the home. The kitchen designer John Noland used Fieldstone Cabinetry in the LaGrange door style ( Beaded inset ). The perimeter kitchen cabinetry is finished in Dove paint with a latte glaze complimented by the island and bar cabinetry in Cherry wood with Hazelnut Stain. The expansive new kitchen countertops are Taj Mahal Quartzite with a sleek apron front sink from Kohler. The bar top granite is Peacock with a stainless steel undermount bar sink. Everything from new random width hardwood flooring, window replacement, cabinetry and finishes were done by CCKAB’s lead contractor Don Pitt and assistant Dan. Everyone involved in this great kitchen project did an awesome job and what a result.
