Our remodeling crew created a one-of-a-kind arbor to diffuse the sun’s rays. Romanesque columns grace the arched entry while a fan attached to an arbor beam blows a cool breeze. We added exterior speakers, self-watering foliage and a hand-painted wall mural for ambiance, which is also seen from the interior sitting area. What used to be a back door is now the perfect setting for wine and bruschetta.

Holistic Home Renovation -Series 7: "The Porch" (See 2-24 Post for full description) Can you feel the breeze? This bright and airy porch lets summer's breezes blow through, but also has glass panes to fend off fall's chills. 4 large skylights brighten up the porch as well as the main house beyond. Colorful blue metal roofing provides shelter from the elements. Stained fir gives the ceiling a friendly feel above the cool porcelain tile flooring. Three fans help circulate the air during MD's "dog days" of summer. Speaking of dogs..., the owners lovable dogs have two pet doors allowing them to freely frolic about!

A new porch addition overlooking the pool and backyard entertaining space. This extension took the existing porch from simply to being a way in and out of the house to being a new outdoor living room. Lots of room for seating and a fan to keep cool breezes blowing.

Inspiration for a contemporary gray tile bathroom remodel in San Francisco with a vessel sink, flat-panel cabinets and dark wood cabinets

The clients' home backed up to deep woods and they wanted a room with floor to ceiling screens to allow cooling breezes to blow through. However, they had two young children and they wanted to protect the screens so we installed a clear glass railing system with white metal vertical posts hold the glass panels and solved the challenge. The floor is 12 x 24 porcelain tile. The ceiling is knotty pine and has 4 recessed ceiling lights and a ceiling fan for hot days. White trim provides a clean finished look. The comfy durable aluminum frame powder coated furniture is from Yardbird Outdoor Furniture in St. Louis Park, MN.

This custom kitchen was created using inset maple shaker doors and a combination of leather textured zinc, forced patina steel, and glass with rice paper and bamboo center panels.
