This beautiful riverside home was a joy to design! Our Aspen studio borrowed colors and tones from the beauty of the nature outside to recreate a peaceful sanctuary inside. We added cozy, comfortable furnishings so our clients can curl up with a drink while watching the river gushing by. The gorgeous home boasts large entryways with stone-clad walls, high ceilings, and a stunning bar counter, perfect for get-togethers with family and friends. Large living rooms and dining areas make this space fabulous for entertaining.

The shower shelf is finished in the same shimmering mosaic glass tile as the mirror surround. The pebble tile extends from the shower throughout the space.

We recently completed this bathroom design project for clients of ours and they couldn't be happier with the final result. In order to maximize the space in this older home, we reconfigured the layout of the bathroom and borrow additional space from the adjoining bedroom. It was important to ensure there was lots of storage. Having drawers in the vanity help to organize all those bathroom accessories. We also added a shower niche as well as a mirrored medicine cabinet for just a little more storage. Realtor wanted to stage this Sea Pines villa. The home had been with two previous realtors with no results. When this Realtor took the listing, she told the owner that 90% of buyers start their search on the internet. Unfortunately, your place does not look "inviting but rather stark & cold in its present state so it's being passed over". That's when she called me for advice...we moved existing furniture around, borrowed some artwork, created a coffee table with two smaller tables. Added a little color with pillows & towels. The owner's only out of pocket cost for two wicker end tables and a wicker etagere was less than $200. The end result was that the place sold within two weeks of it hitting the market!

Modern gardens are all about bringing the inside of the house to the outdoors. Apply the same design process when you are planning the rooms inside your home and translate them into your outdoor garden. Think about breaking up the outdoor space into rooms and the specific use of them. Plan these rooms to fit your lifestyle. In modern gardens you can borrow ideas from the garden styles described above and give them your personal style with a twist of modern aesthetic. Think about how the transition from indoor to outdoor flows… It should to be seamless. Think about the rooms and your actual lifestyle. Do you like to entertain? Do you have kids, pets? Do you like to barbecue? How about planning for reading, meditating or just relaxing? Is it shade important to have?

We inherited a borrowed view of a beautiful canary island palm which provided a great backdrop for a new redwood pavilion. The fences and back stucco wall where stained and painted a charcoal color to recede into the background. The dark gray porcelain tile patio in the foreground awaits a cedar spa next to the lounge chairs. Raised vegetable planting beds and fruit espaliers along the fence provide a DIY gardening area. The kurapia lawn and drought tolerant plantings were installed to keep all generally low-maintenance

A new design brings opportunities for greatness. Removing the fireplace and borrowing space from the mudroom was a game changer. Essential to the new plan is an inviting island with generous space for storage, meal prep, gatherings and dining.

Clients wanted to remodel their first floor kitchen and powder bath for their long-term home in a modern, clean, Danish style. We worked in collaboration with the homeowners and their Architect to design the project. We borrowed space from the powder bath to increase the kitchen storage and improve the work flow. Special attention was paid to the architecturally-clean, integrated look and feel of the design details throughout the project and is what creates a wonderful lifelong remodel for the home.

Here we recreated the primary bath by borrowing space from an adjacent laundry room and hall bath. The new design delivers a spacious bathroom suite with the bonus of improved laundry storage.

The walls where moved and space was redesigned to borrow space from an adjoining bedroom to create this white tiled oasis. It's turquoise ceiling, silver clawfoot tub, vintage style tile wrapping the whole room and glamorous accents make this a bathroom fit for a queen. The owners of this 1958 mid-century modern home desired a refreshing new master bathroom that was open and bright. The previous bathroom felt dark and cramped, with dated fixtures. A new bathroom was designed, borrowing much needed space from the neighboring garage, and allowing for a larger shower, a generous vanity with integrated trough sink and a soaking tub.

Pool with beamed ceiling: Set in a remote district just outside Halfway, Oregon, this working ranch required a water reserve for fire fighting for the newly constructed ranch house. This pragmatic requirement was the catalyst for the unique design approach — having the water reserve serve a dual purpose: fitness and firefighting. Borrowing from the surrounding landscape, two masses — one gabled mass and one shed form — are skewed to each other, recalling the layered hills that surround the home. Internally, the two masses give way to an open, unencumbered space. The use of wood timbers, so fitting for this setting, forms the rhythm to the design, with glass infill opening the space to the surrounding landscape. The calm blue pool brings all of these elements together, serving as a complement to the green prairie in summer and the snow-covered hills in winter.

All aspects of the building are meticulously designed, specified, detailed, & crafted to be both stylistically appropriate and reflect building best practices. The materials palette of hand-molded brick, thick profile siding, exposed timber framing & rafters, double-hung windows, and operable louvered shutters is borrowed from the neighborhood's existing stock of mid-century craftsman ranch houses.
